Sorry, no sympathy, @APM would block me… (probably has) hope its not serious.
I been struggling on and off for 16 months.. not fun. (Thankfully I got through a Marathon build, but it went at the Cotswolds Classic as did my gulte shortly after, 500m later in the same event.)
Just starting to get back into some okay running… love it… missed it.. and makes me cranky when I cant run.
I was at the physio again this morning, he thinks the inflammation is mostly gone, I do get some soreness but only certain movements and nothing bad. Said to continue with a bit of cycling, I’ve done 3 short Zwift sessions but to hold off on the running for another week or two which I might as well do as I’ve got this far.
Also had a quick look at my sore knee, thinks the cartliage is slightly nipping, and did some painful manipulations. I have had it before and it settled down when he did the same things so fingers crossed. I remember once when I had it quick a long time ago and it was pretty sore and I kneeled down to get behind a rack at work and actually felt something kind of jump, which bizarrely helped make it better!
I have done some more cardio stuff and weights. Hopefully have an easy jog and get a parkrun over Christmas at an easy pace.
I do have another appointment in a fortnight but he said to cancel it if it’s feeling better.
clearly a cartilage issue. Mrs FB had a long standing slightly torn cartilage problem which would resolve by doing a deep squat - made a goddawful sound when it righted itself. She eventually had surgery to sort it out.
Yeah, it is likely, for now the manipulation and a bit of rest seems to settle it but wonder if it might need something in future. Although he has said that the knee generally feels alright for my age and activity level.
I know @APM is going to tell me off, but did the Taunton park run this morning despite calf feeling only 80%.
It was wetter than an otters pocket so I wore grippy trail shoes and took it carefully with short strides.
Calf, meh, ok-ish , no sharp twinges, but I was aware of it all the way round & still am a bit now.
Was thinking, have pretty much stopped cycling since coming back to UK, too wet muddy hilly and cold (read: too soft & spoilt). Wonder if this change has predisposed to calf strain perhaps?
Anyway, think I’m going to try getting back on the bike & see if that helps.
My back is really starting to give me jip. I had this on off problem with my hips over summer. Saw physio. It seemed to get better then out of nowhere it came back and then my back went I’ll have a piece of that too. I don’t think it’s anything serious and it’s all muscles that are tight but it’s hard to do any stretches. Sitting down is painful and that’s really starting to piss me off.
Holidaying in Fuerteventura and went out cycling, got back to 5 mins from the hotel and hit some gravel going round a corner and hit the deck pretty hard! Ended up with road rash down one side and a couple of deep gouges on my arm that had to be stitched up. Not a great start to my holiday and don’t know whether I can be arsed going out again and might just sit by the pool instead.
Garmin said I had my first good sleep since I came back from Italy this morning, although I was awake during the night and didn’t think I had
HRV is also the highest for a while but still well below the usual of high 40’s
I looked back and compared with activities and it went downhill when I was in Belgrade and was sick during the race, although I’m still convinced that was my breakfast and possibly the heat but I’ve clearly struggled to recover.
