Very envious of you all with BUPA and equivalents! It’s not a benefit offered through my current work which is annoying, but thinking it might be a worthwhile investment if current aches and pains are anything to go by.
Before I had a shoulder op, they had to measure a few vitals. My resting HR came out at 36 so they had to flag it when they put me under to make sure it didn’t go too low
Dr said it could take a few weeks for the steroid injection to take effect, so don’t be disheartened if it doesnt feel better straight away. Well it doesn’t feel better and I am disheartened. Feel in limbo, can’t swim, can’t lift weights.
Might start doing some leg strength training in the mean time. As long as I’m not lifting above my head should be OK.
Back at physio today. He said my shoulder still not feeling 100% was a good thing as if all pain had gone after the injection there is more risk of re injuring it.
It’s now clicking when I move it. Had some more acupuncture.
Some new exercises to do. If they are OK for a week then I can try a swim (proper swim, not breaststroke).
Really starting to piss me off now. Bloody glad I’m private as trying to get all this shit on the NHS would have been an utter nightmare.
That’s what I want to avoid. I want to get it dealt with and not come back, so I’m definitely taking all their advice and not pushing on through and hoping for the best.
Same, phoned Axa on a Thursday and was seen in person on the Monday. Plus the clinic I was referred to is a 2 minute walk from my house.
When I was booking my next physio the receptionist said oh you’re seeing the doctor that day, I don’t have any physio appointments nearer that time, I’m really sorry. I said don’t worry about and pointed to my house and said I can come back later.
Well I’m not really sure TBH. I was doing so much work to address the hip that I developed a lower calf (soleus) injury that stopped me running further than 7km.
So now I’ve been addressing that and it seems to be on the mend. The downside to all this that I haven’t put together a run long enough to see if the hip is getting better. It doesn’t really give me grief until about 40-45km, so it’s hard to replicate.
Physio is due later this week or or next, I’ll get him to do another hip strength test and see what he says.
Yeah going to add in an extra swimming and an extra core/conditioning session I think and just generally keep the weight off it. Hopefully it’s not too long, I’ve got an aquathlon at the start of March and I’d like to not be a total embarrassment doing it.
The more physio exercises I do on it, the worse it seems to get.
It goes up from a 2 on the pain scale to a 4 after, then down to 3 later in the day.
Wake up on a 2, exercises, back to 4 again.
