Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

My right ankle is FUBARd.
After the hand op, I didn’t run for a while, then when I did go out, I fell over and must’ve sprained it.
Back in November.

Me being me, I carried on running, did an XC that weekend and have continued running up to 30mins.

It’s not great now.

I walk about 8km per day, which isn’t pain free.
My left Achilles has now started to compensate, so that’s inflamed.

Cycling?
Ah, left knee pain probably caused by trying not to get that Achilles inflamed :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::triumph:

2022?
Goals and targets out of the window and just make sure I can stay with my mates up Sa Calobra :mountain_biking_man:t3::sunny::es:

How about a goal of seeing a physio before you totally fuck yourself up?

I’ve got 2 on the go and I can’t even sit down without pain :person_facepalming:

Ironically… squats are pain free :exploding_head:

And you all call me sicknote!

Have any of you guys tried rubbing Fosters into it? There’s still 3 days left of December.

Just a suggestion. What do I know, but haven’t needed to visit this thread much yet, except the time I stubbed a toe on the doorstep getting ready for a ride. Just saying

GRRR…

after seeing the consultant last week about my dodgy knee cartilage, I’ve had a letter this morning asking me to go for a MRI scan on 31st Jan - when I might be on a skiing trip! (France regs allowing) - and a follow up with the consultant on 12th Feb.

By the time I’m booked in for an op I could have moved to Wales (plan is end Feb/early March) so I have no idea where that leaves me.

Tried to call the hospital appointments team this morning to discuss but guess what?? They’re closed until 4th January.

That’s put me in a foul mood.

The only glimmer of hope is that this referral is via Benenden Health which is kind of a semi-private healthcare deal so I’m hoping that I can get the op done in their Newport facility once we’ve moved, and will ultimately be quicker than waiting for the NHS to do anything.

Phew… back on the bike.
Easy effort… But wasn’t a pain in the ass - literally.

I don’t think I’ve turned a pedal in two weeks.

Has anyone had a steroid injection for soft tissue injury? Specifically bursitis?

I’ve got mine on Wednesday. Was wondering if that means I’ll be able to lift and swim after or does it take a few weeks to take effect?

Yes. I fainted after my first one.

Second and third were fine.

You feel Amazing about an hour afterwards :muscle:t3:

Whatever I have done to my chest wall falling off MTB on Thursday is definitely cramping style a bit today.

Not so bad on the turbo, but had to turn back 1km into a run just now as it hurts to breathe.

Reckon this is Karma for making a smug comment about the injury prevention benefits of Australian beer a few days ago. :face_with_head_bandage:

Had my steroid injection. Straight after the nurse/assistant took my blood pressure. The machine was giving low battery warnings and she put the normal size cuff on - not to be a big dick swinger but my arm is a lot thicker than most peoples.

She looked horrified when it read 225/195. I said I think your machine is broken, my BP isnt great but its normally half that. Then had to go to the machine downstairs, lots of people flapping, how do you feel, are you ok. Yes I’m fine. They check it down there, 148/94. Not great, but inline with what it was this morning.

I have no idea what those numbers in blood pressure mean :man_shrugging:t4:

I have just googled it.
I now know :bulb:

The first set of numbers I’m pretty sure I would be dead if they were genuine

Its another of those anachronisms. Measuring blood pressure in terms of the number of millimeters of mercury vertically displaced, even though mercury is poisonous and nasty and isn’t used in sphygmomanometers any more outside of The Science Museum.

Pascals would be better I guess but then people would all have to learn new numbers and there would probably be a period of carnage, like when changing from driving on the left to the right.

Just reading about this, BP measurements are general given relative to the current atmospheric pressure: for example, a blood pressure of 120 mmHg, when the current atmospheric pressure is 760 mmHg, means 880 mmHg relative to perfect vacuum. Didn’t know that, but I guess it makes sense🤔

Self referred via BUPA.
Triage call on Friday :+1:t3::pray:t4:

What I had with Axa. No need for GP, have online triage call, they then send you to physio in person.

I’ve got 20 sessions of physio and the consultant and injection stuff all covered too. 150 excess but Iver had nearly a grands worth of treatment so far
