Had my physio appt today. She said she’s never had a patient with so much back surgery history (that didn’t fill me with confidence!)

I didn’t really have a proper session because a lot of it was taken up with assessment. She did do quite a few physical tests just to look at severity.
She said we’ll can try a remedial session next week but she stressed that given what she’s seen so far, she’s keen for me to have an MRI to ascertain whether it’s something she can help fix or not.
hmmm,

I should and would have put money on that.

TBF, weak glutes seems to be a easy go too for everything, ā€œits weak glutes.ā€ But to be fair it is really common. I would continue but ejc will question what I mean and then say the same thing :backhand_index_pointing_right: :bear:
edit wtf is that heart so big, on my screen at least.

Sorry been away in my cave for past 5 months - I am now out of hibernation. Nice to know I am famous in the somewhat limited circles of ultra cycling

So just down to that there London for an MRI and X-ray on my right knee and then an appt with a knee surgeon to see what needs to be done. MRI and X-ray done. I have private insurance, very different experience. Expensive flowers and sparkling water everywhere

I had the joy of the NHS today - to local DGH to have a 48hr ECG monitor fitted. No flowers or water but the car park had space and I was in and out in 10mins. Result

I am now waiting for the consultant. In a very fancy building overlooking the gardens of Buckingham Palace

Imagine having to cough up his consultation fee if you didn’t have PHC… :scream:

Went to a group session last week about injury prevention run by a physio, actually she is the physio for the Irish womens’ U19 football team - not that I’m Irish, a woman, under 19, or any good at football.

She demonstrated some hip conditioning exercises & said something I hadn’t ever heard before: she recommended doing 1 conditioning routine for every training session. A strict 1 to 1 ratio. She said the timing doesn’t matter - it can be straight after, or the next morning, or immediately before. But it’s a chance to reset & just focus on any niggles and iron out any wrinkles before getting going again (not the face ones, that would take an orbital sander).

Anyway, I’m being good and spending 10-15 minutes on the hips every day. Which is not normal behaviour at all. And really don’t want to tempt fate, but managed to run a total of 61km in the last week with no hip pain. That’s the most for over a year :crossed_fingers: … maybe there’s something in it, who knew.

I joined a london marathon Facebook group some weeks ago and today saw a post from a lady who’s toes are so painful since london she can’t put proper shoes on yet.

The post is now getting lots of photos of black toenails and videos of post marathon feet. If you love a good trotter shot then I can find a link….

Picked up something viral, presumably at work, and have been a bit of a wet rag this week.

No training for 5 or 6 days

Sore throat and sniffles but mainly it was the sort of bug where I just wanted to sleep, I’m normally a 9 hour guy anyway but really upped the ante over the weekend with about 14 hours yesterday.

Feeling a lot better today & almost risked a swim. But then didn’t. Tomorrow will :+1:

edit: Slept 10.5 hours again last night. Whatever this bug is, it has properly hit me with a sleepy stick. Managed a swim this morning, just 750m.

edit #2: ran / shuffled 3.5km this morning at 8 mins per km & felt pretty grim. First run in maybe 8 days. Feels quite a lot like the illness I had before Cots 2022, thankfully there’s plenty of time before the 2025 edition & definitely things are improving day on day now. Was definitely in survival mode at work the last few days, not 100% sure I should have been in really. But a day off today.

Starting to think this cricket lark is a bit dangerous.

Made my debut for the 2s and it didnt go particularly well. Dropped a difficult catch, it was drilled at me off a fast bowler, and it caught the muscley/fatty bit of my palm. Fucking hurt.

Looks horrifc now but doesn’t hurt that bad. Pretty sure its not broken. Dont want to sit in A+E for 5 hours to be told its a bruise.

Back on it this week, feel fully recovered from whatever bug it was now

2 weeks of blue but a glimmer of yellow today

Need to turn the dial green again somehow before cots, but it’s challenging in the heat.

My sinuses have been a bit funny the last few days, my nose turns into a snot tap for a while then seems to stop :man_shrugging: not sure if I’m coming down with something but feel alright otherwise.

But I’ve got some eyedrops for redness and she actually said the corner bit looked a bit inflamed which either hasn’t resolved since June last year or come back, it was why I didn’t do the chitriman in France.

Hay fever??

I did wonder that as the first time it came on was when I’d been helping at the triathlon on Sunday which was out in the sticks with lost of fields and trees etc.

But it went off then came back while I was in the office today.

The eyedrops are strange, soon after putting them in I get the taste in the back of my throat similar to those nasal sprays for colds and sinuses :man_shrugging: guess it’s not a very big area from your eyes to your throat :joy:

Your eyes naturally drain into the sinuses which is why you got the taste quickly.

Grasses are in full pollen mode at the mo whereas most trees have gone past that stage now.
