It’s blowing up… but it’ll settle down. It’s Eddie the eagle all over again.
She’s getting it from all angles
The black community are ridiculing her - something about creating an alter ego to understand rap or something , the breakdancing community seem unimpressed as it’s distracted from the better performances… and tbh I don’t think she’s done herself any good in the media - gone from cocky self-promotion to not speaking to journalists
There’s also a lot of misinformation floating around saying she’s single handedly responsible for it being dropped in LA - which isn’t true
I can understand the frustration if raygun is now a globally recognised - albeit sludgy & a bit crap - breakdancer. I don’t know any others
She’ll do ok out of it. The usual stuff about race and privileged white women shoehorning herself into the selection
As much as I want to be impartial - I have to be honest. She’s not an endearing personality
Fair play, having had a stress fracture in my foot, the further I ran the more it hurt. It was always worst a few hours after the run though. I bet she was agony that evening.
I’ve run in club group sessions with Rosie quite a bit, and we’ve been at club swim sessions together. This article was the first time I’ve realised we’re from the same hometown!
It’s actually quite funny that her fiance Charlie (who is [was?] also a chaser, and has also been at various club sessions I’ve been at) is sort of mentioned in passing in the article. Back when I first met Rosie, he was the big time part of the relationship, being a cofounder of oppo ice cream and minted (so I was told) from a young age. His LinkedIn is now prioritising being Rose’s manager!
…must not get lost clicking links . Although I found this - which was the event where she won the finals of the Oceana champs (against Molly) which I believe qualified her for Paris. They don’t look too dissimilar and the judging scores at the end weren’t completely one sided.
…and according to a fact check, her husband wasn’t a judge that day. It really just sounds like 15 girls turned up to qualify - and she won. Simple as that.
I shall now hurry off to find obscure sport for the LA or Brisbane olympics and start training.
For crying out loud, it was all sh1t and (worse) not sport.
Poorly conceived - she and her silly non-sport have had their 15 minutes and will now recede into darkness, where they belong.
We should be talking about Picock or Toby … or what might have been with all the close finishes.
That was probably the plan all along. Hit the ‘academic circuit’ and dine out on what she learned from being bullied and trolled from an event she had no business being in.
