Inseine...Para-Oly commentary with spoilers

Yeah! always feels a hell of a lot bigger when on it, rather than looking at one…

we used to train on a cinder track with clumps of weeds and bushes creating unique obstacles. Hardest training sessions I ever did as a teenager. Always mean to try and get back on a track. Wouldn’t know what to do when I was on it though - running I suppose

I was pretty pleased with my fastest 10km in 3 years on Sunday (albeit not on a track)

I also realised I was 20 minutes behind the time that the British lady that came in last in the 10,000m final

It does put things into perspective for me

That puts you at 53 mins for a 10k right now, could have sworn you were a fast runner, or certainly faster than me.

Getting olympic withdrawal already? Don’t worry, the Paralympics aren’t to far away now which reminds me of this from the Terminator.

52:58 if you don’t mind

I have never been fast - that’s why I migrated to going long instead

Thinking about trying to develop a bit of speed (for which read speedier) post last race of the season which is the North Coast 110km

Missed the bendy dancing but Australian internet crashed over this performance - ray gun.

Doesn’t help that she’s dressed like a zoo keeper

Highlight was D+ event coverage - watch what you want when you want. It contrasted with the over-emotional BBC coverage with all the samey backstory videos (yes, they trained hard since they were a cute nipper, and their family loves them, we get it).

The sporting highlight for me was Pidcock’s XC

But then you missed delight of Andrew Cotter. No I’m not stopping going on about him. He’s worth his weight in gold!

I agree the D+ coverage was brilliant and I did get tired of the bbc chatter. The focus was on too few events, too few athletes and not about embracing the diversity of the olympics.

It’s nice that hard work is rewarded, but backstories to more of the Olympians who maybe had unique challenges would be good (maybe I missed them) - lack of funding or other obstacles but an achievement just making the squad - it’s always the same old same old. It’s a bit lazy and uninspired. It’s not always a Hollywood ending. I guess people like that tho

It gave B-Girl Ray Gun 4 years to get somewhere near half decent at it

have you told him?

It does make you wonder what the qualification process was for Breaking - every other sport (including the other urban sports) required qualification events to be attended and a reasonable standard attained.

Did she just fancy giving it a go and got straight in because Australia was happy to send her? :man_shrugging:

I have just seen the Aussie that all the fuss is about…

as much as I don’t like to see anyone being trolled, I am really unsure as to what she expected…

as an addition…wtaf were the Aussie Oly committee doing when they sanctioned the entry?

when you see the eel and the eagle out of their depth but giving it a go, there is some call to compassion…but when you see entitlement seemingly trying to be down and with it, it is bit grim…

As Sir Ken Robinson once said, watch a bunch of of senior academics at a conference disco, writhing uncontrollably, off the beat, waiting to get home so that they can write a paper about it…

Eddie the Eagle had to jump through hoops to get there also, they literally changed the goalposts multiple times and he had to be half decent to land the jump. Eel was an odd one but 4 years later he went ~57 (iirc) for 100free…oh and Eels 100 time at the first Olympics was probably quicker than a lot of adult triathletes Ive come across  This was the equivalent someone pissed as a fart dancing in the middle of a nightclub thinking they are good

BBC had pretty much everything I wanted to watch. Couple of times I resorted to D+ but the TV app on a Fire stick seemed to crap its pants when trying to select catch up episodes :poop:
