Day 25
23.75 hours static bike.
1/25 booze
1/25 chocolate
Onwards
Is it just you and me who are stupid doing this?
21/23 training
22/23 no booze
23/23 good diet
Couple of days interruption while we were away but January has been a good block of training.
We are the hard core Bob!
I am quite surprised how few even tried to do no booze?! We do this for fun so fair enough I guess.
I’m going to be in a real mess after today so I’m not sure I’ll get my 31 hours in 31 days static bike but I’ll certainly tri!!
Let’s not make it sound too grand. I just bumble around shouting drink! I’d keel over if I did just half of your gym sessions ![]()
Tbh, I’ve enjoyed the break from alcohol, I’ll likely continue that and just have a pint or two on occasion. I had a couple of injuries (bleeds) at the tail end of last year which took me out of proper training for a couple of months so nice to get some consistency in again.
I’m going to try and cut out chocolate and alcohol in the week, after this month.
I’ve lost 3.5 kg this month… that’s not real but alcohol will have played a part.
Glad your back at it, do you not have one rest day a week?
I normally take rest days when I feel I need them but otherwise try and control load and fatigue via mixing up the sessions and intensity.
As per the comment from @GRamsay, I found following a formal training plan counterproductive. I’d take rest days when they weren’t required and battle on the through when I needed them. Over the years I’ve got reasonably good at managing the load/recovery balance and fatigue.
After 6 days my body literally tells me “ enough”
I look in my book and sure enough rest day will be due.
This month has been all static bike, weight loss and daft exercises circuits which will finish today.
Feb I’m going to do a modified hyrox at the end.
March onwards will be more tri based, I like the plans were the sessions for a 2-3 month block are all there and you pick which ones you like depending on how you feel, as long as you get them all in the end it’s all good.
1 hour of pressups - I wouldn’t make it to day 6 ![]()
Not this year !
I am still on course, but then, I am basically always on course anyway, I exercise every day regardless, and only really drink when out socialising with “others”, and I’m fundamentally anti-social. But I’m with you in spirit.
Not really much point in reporting what I (don’t) do every day drink wise.
I have have failed on the Pringles twice though but only twice is somewhat miraculous!
So, Day 31 and the training peaked 10 days ago, sadly…
14 runs
12 bottles of red…4 beers…and 2 pints of Guinness with some club mates at the pub on Friday…
Weighed in at 74.2kg this morning…14.9% BF…and a visceral fat rate of 9 which is a worst ever…
On the plus side…I have not been to Costa in January and went to Starbucks twice. At some stage i will need to do my accounts and I do wonder how much that has saved me (and my company)…
Half a bottle of single malt
3 yoga sessions
12 Zwifts
4 swims
3 runs
11 walks
5 blank days
2 beers
6 swims
8 bike (5 turbo)
14 runs
2 row
8 strength/mobility
All things considered, I’ll take that.
Fails all round I’m afraid !
Chocolate 1/31 ( quite proud of that !)
Booze 3/31 one of the days was one single can of cider
Static bike 25:15/31. If it wasn’t for a silly fitness test and covid I’d have been closer.
Daft but made me think about stuff
likewise…
not quite enough to make me doing anything about it…but it is the thought that counts…
29/31 training. Double office day and new client (similar to a new job, really) wiped me out.
In my defence, I did go 27 days straight.
Including two >=440km cycling weeks ![]()

31/31 booze
Lost weight.
Feel fitter.
Spent less money, too.
Winner.
make that 13 bottles…
Strava shows exercise on 19 days out of 31 here, less than usual, although some of the off days involved heavy duty DIY workouts instead I suppose.
Alcohol - didn’t keep track but too much. Not proud of this, but on the plus side it’s 100% more than I anticipate consuming in Feb.
Swimming: 0/31 … the only way is up ![]()
Dunno what material January was here. Certainly not iron. Doubt it was even a metal. Perhaps something soft and spongy like sponge? Lino January. Or maybe tin, looking at the recycling box ![]()
in fairness I never signed up. Iron Feb on the other hand? Can’t get enough of it ![]()
