Yeah I think so
I nearly missed the view, head down into the wind climbing, was surprised to glance over and see the magnificent scenery.

Man that vid reminds what a long day out that was
I’ve never climbed it that way. I can’t imagine the descent down the narrow road is that much fun!
On the old course you always felt you’d broken the back of the course when you reached Mirador del Rio because you were 120km in and you’d done most of the climbing. With the 2018/2019 course you were only just over 100km in and you still had the climb back up to Teguise and the Famara out-and-back to go.
i found the famara climb better( not easier just less painful) than the drag up through Teseguite ,at least you knew you was on your way home up famara ,also like you say you get to mirador now and you still a long long way from home
Oi, that’s nearly head height for some of us.
The worst bit about the Famara out-and-back was that you were riding into a massive headwind on the way down the hill, so you were having to work hard just to make progress and the descent. Funnily enough, the climb was still a climb even with the tailwind
and it seemed like it was a head wind both bloody ways too…
I sure don’t remember a tailwind at any point.
The crosswind on the massive straight descent was a nice change. Not really what you want at 90kph though.
Cycling in Lanza I have never had to pedal so hard, to make progress downhill
Can’t see that this has been raised here, but just seen it has been pushed back (per an email that I just got about my races, and what’s happening, where it made reference to variety of races that have already been pushed)
Yes, just seen there’s an email with a selection of races pushed back
July 3rd apparently, that doesn’t fuck things up at all
Look at that awsome coordination. Challenge Roth Pushed back to Septeber 5th, IM Lanzarote pushed back to July 3rd, when Roth was originally scheduled… have they been looking at my calendar, and scheduling races when it works for me?
Lanza has the potential now to be a brutally hot race
Good that they have moved it early. But from 25/26th May to 3rd July? What makes them think that it cannot happen end of May but will be fine by start of July, what 5 weeks later.
Also July, one of the hottest months in Lanza and the windiest. Good luck with that.
Probably take the deferral to next May as the new date will put it a tad too close to Copenhagen. Of course chances are Copenhagen won’t happen I’ll end up with no European race
Hotter and windier, will probably suit me pretty well.
Think I’ll defer to 2023 and see how I feel. July 3rd is three weeks before Outlaw and out of the two I’m more confident in Outlaw happening.
I’ll still go on a training jaunt in May if flights are on though
I entered in 2019 then got injured. Deferred to 2020. Deferred to 2021. Now just deferred to 2022. I’ll get back to the island eventually!
The issue is that if the flights aren’t cancelled I’ll be shelling out for 2 sets of flights/accommodation within 5 weeks to the same place and much as I like Lanza that’s a bit too much. Financially it’s not great either
With the event carnage we are seeing at the moment, wondering what it will mean for Kona Places? I have IM Finland as my backup, this is the last 2021 KQ event, will be interesting what happens here
