Ironman UK 2021

Why should there be?
If we can go to any Green List country after that, why can’t they come here?

Not really fair is it

Isn’t $100k what the winner gets at the Super League Tri? Slightly better hourly rate.

Yeah, not many people are going to get rich out of long distance tri. You can see why Bella and Stephen Bayliss seemed to race nearly every IM on the calender.

Was Brexit for nothing? Did Farage die in vain?

Farage is alive and well, and always finds a way to be an annoying c*** to the non-Gammon population.

Personally, I think the bar for ‘Green’ countries should be very high for the time being. International travel is exactly absolutely totally utterly and completely how this thing spread in the first place.

I know I’m preaching to the converted to you; I assume your new Blue passport was acquired as a posh form of ID? (which is all mine is right now) :stuck_out_tongue:

Sad, isn’t it?

It would be handy if somehow he really upset Putin; but I suspect they exchange Christmas cards.

Yeah - I’m half joking.
It’s an odd one.

Lives vs livelihoods.

The Government have said this is irreversible and the Great Unlocking, so it should be :unlock::door::running_man:t2::point_left:t3:

Bolton will be gagging for this to go ahead and bring in some much needed cash.
So the Pro race will be even better for them.
They’re properly pressing the food festival locally, too, so Bolton Council are “all systems go”

Food festival ≈ Ironman

Sounds like Skipper is throwing his hat in the ring for this.

Ha ha ha - I was gonna post something pissy about him doing it last night, but I was too drunk to think of anything funny

He’ll probably find some comedy way to scupper his race anyway :joy:

@FatPom - 1,247ft (380m)

I need to get up there to ride some loops to gauge my time, but I’m not expecting each loop to be much quicker than 2hrs + the ~30km section to get up to the loop (uphill all the way, but a decent early morning drag strip, should take <1hr)

Both Wales and Uk do seem to be very similar now. If only someone was doing both!

I rode a 6:24 at Wales 2017. Fitness was shocking for that race though. And the weather

How different is the Bolton course from 2016 / 2017?

5000 ft to nearly 9000.
Plus the downhills you need to break often, well I do.

Three loops.

The strava pb is 1:30 at 300 ish watts, my mate did 1:50 at 240 W.

With the pros there will probably be more 6 hour bike splits, ( 30?) but there won’t be many, it’s no joke.

:flushed:

That’d do it

Was looking back at my times from 16/17

Different world the old loop is 3? Maybe 4 kph faster for most of us.

My training partner is showing another party round as we speak… think he’s on 15 ish loops so far.

He has a 6 hour figure in his head but won’t be able to walk afterwards !

Not really the best year to introduce such a challenging course. Or was it the same in 2019?
