Ironman UK 2021

Not so much of that on this loop …?!

It’s certainly more fluid.

2019 was 100% what you described.

GGG Golovkin fan?

I don’t think many people are running that hill in Queen’s Park. Even the pros. It needs stairs and a bloody bannister.

But fair do’s if that’s within your ability!!

Never heard of him, but by the look of him on Google wouldn’t dare tell him that :muscle:

Apparently he’s a really nice fella … out side the squared circle.

Been a fan for years, only beaten once, by a drug cheat.

Getting on now, but still a monster puncher.

You don’t want really flat either, it’s relentless in a different way. Nicely rolling is good :+1: Something like Roth.

I do agree, although East Anglia can offer nice lumps according to my bike route bible, “Great British Bike Rides.”

Anyway, worst race of my life undoubtedly Sundowner 70.3. About 300 feet of climbing in 56 miles!! Official temperature 23 degrees. But coupled with a bloody awful helmet (giro vanquish) and no respite I got off the bike ready to quit…walked first lap of run then my son brought me a 2L bottle of coke (we were camped on the course) and i downed half of it and it totally revived me. (Ps they’d run out of water on course as it was so hot so taking fluid off son=ok!)

Yes always a possibility

I loved the hilliness of the last edition’s bike route and thrived. Surely there will never be a hillier Bolton route than this. I gather it’s been emasculated (flattened) a bit for this year?

No swim, 95 mile bike ride? Worry not, you’re still an “Ironman” (side-eye look)

Fucking aquabike.

We can still swim if we like.

I wonder if the folks who don’t swim get 10.5hrs to do the bike?

Some of them will need it :rofl::rofl:

Context please?

They cancelled the swim?

You can choose to not do the swim, if you’d like.
So we now have a rolling start, an aquabike and an actual Ironman.

I might do the 180km on the trainer.

WTF??? You can choose not to do the swim?

What do you do instead???

You can “opt “ to not swim and still get the medal etc I think?!

I didn’t read the e mail as I thought it was a joke ?!

It’s obviously to stop anymore deferrals as some people are really panicking now … as they can’t… swim that is.

Several people were hoping to learn this winter.

Were they talking about offering 1 lap of the swim as well? Or was that Lakesman?

Still an Ironman though init :eyes:

So there’s a duathlon option essentially?

No swim

Start on your bike ?!

I think

I’m distancing myself from this before the anti Bolton brigade, you know who you are, rip us to pieces

Surely an aquabike is a swim/bike event, no?

Sounds more like a duathlon
