Ironman UK 2021

4 off them are from Devon / Scotland, so are asking should they travel…those bumps will feel bumpier on lap three, but they won’t turn into the struggle…you seem to be organised, your predictions for Southport were very similar to IRL and a great result.

No reason why you shouldn’t do the same over the longer distance, I know two rapidly improving 35-40 year olds, neither will trouble you unless you have a stinker.

Your in a good place.

I’ve taken Tue/Wed off next week to go up and do some loops. I’m staying in the campervan and won’t need to go to any shops etc, so contact with people will be limited. I’m fully vaccinated too.

I’m staying off IMJ, it sucks the life out of you.

Just engage full Stu-Francis-mode; you’ll be fine.

He was born in Bolton too

Don’t feed the beast Mungo!

He’s in a tough tough age group this year, or any year for that matter.

I like people who are factual about there training, I guess strava does that now.

People who say I’m going awful I must have covid and AIDS then win there age group by two hours are (unts.

Conversely I’ve beaten people who can hold “300 watts “ for several weeks, but they weren’t bragging.

It’s hitting up for sure… but not the weather it seems here

Gah!!!
Bloody Govt Advice, don’t tell me I can now go and recce it (again) :sob::sob::sob:

“ The prime minister’s official spokesman said the government wanted to encourage the public “to exercise their good judgement”, rather than issuing “top-down edicts”. ”

So…I’m exercising my judgement and going to do the Goyt Valley road whilst it’s still open (works have been delayed by a month)

Massive backfire the Government on this one :man_facepalming:t4:

I’m heading into the Peaks instead still.
Need to visit Morrison’s Garage in Buxton ( @mw22 ) it’s one of my Ironman training “rites of passage)

Hope you come in from a different direction - that road surface was dire on the last section.

Welcome to IMUK :rofl::see_no_evil:
I’m going to head over to Eyam, via the A6/A623, then drop down into Bakewell, so I’ll be hitting it the same side as you did :muscle:t3::+1:t3:

No official restrictions but there’s definitely advice. “We are trusting you to do the right thing, dont be a dick” is what he is really saying as they really dont want to be seen to applying lockdown to the north like last year when it all kicked off.

Why is everyone calling it the ‘so called Indian variant’? I don’t remember that being the case with other variants?

I prefer the term Vindaflu

The Kent variant was the Kent variant wasn’t it? And I believe it is called the English Variant outside these shores.

That’s exactly my point.

On R4 earlier, someone referred to it as the ‘Indy 2’ variant. Nothing like confusion with Scottish politics.

But that’s always been the narrative from Day 1; and it’s never worked. Hence the effort to get people vaccinated, because inevitably, people are dicks.

did we not have a south african variant

We did. I’m not making my point very well, it’s the ‘so called’ precursor that I’m confused about.
