Ironman UK 2021

Ah yeah, I see Graham is a follower. How did I do on the loop look up thingy?

Faster than us…!

Anything even close to 30 is quite rare, some people are going round at 20 ish…

What bit?

28, but more like 30 mm tyres 80 psi… heaven.

You on 28”s and still feel bone shaker alley as they call it?

I’m on 25s
Did my recce’s on them, felt fine.
I’m used to 19/21 though, so don’t really care too much.

@SidSnot - It’s good to hear you say this, it’s put my mind at ease :relaxed::+1:t3:
Obviously, I wanted Top 5 - 7 AG, but I see Tom Rigby and Brian Fogarty are in my age group, so either they enter MPRO, or I’m looking at Top 10 AG :see_no_evil:

Tom went quite well at the weekend…

Thought BF was older than that…?

Big difference from 25 to what I’ll be using but it’s all relative I guess.

He’s on the M35-39 start list.
Same AG as Graham Gore and Me

@Poet top 5 is my aim as well. Tony Cullen is in my AG, so we’ll give him the W

Foggy’s mate and other ex-pro footballer turned Ironman age grouper :bangbang:

Makes me sick :face_vomiting:

Your hand grenade doesn’t seem to have gone off there

If it was a local race for local people then I don’t see it being too much of an issue. It’s the fact that the race will bring people into the area from all over the country that might cause them problems.

Oh, no baiting intended; I know people here won’t bite on this. I was just wondering what the latest is in the news about hot-spots, as tbh I’m not really keeping abreast of stuff at the moment.

I’m mildly optimistic. 4 weeks to go, should have heard by now if there was any danger, big crowds at football and cricket going OK also
(I’m doing Hever half that day as well but to just get round and do a triathlon again, 3hr half marathon the size and fitness of me considering the very lumpy bike and trail run )

From Latest updates as Bolton fights back against Covid | The Bolton News

Blockquote The coronavirus infection rate has fallen in Bolton once more.
The town saw a spike in infections over the last few weeks due to the spread of the ‘Indian’ variant of Covid-19.

Infection rates across Greater Manchester and the north west continues to rise.

They’ve had the bus out and the queues every day on the news appear large.
They’ve also opened it up to over 18s in loads of postcodes in Manchester and to the north.

Like I’ve always said, 21st June and it’s over.
I’ve got that day off work!

Do you have something special planned? Unless you want to go to a rave or fly abroad, I’m not sure what additional freedoms there will be; maybe that’s indicative of just how restricted life has been and I’m used to it

I guess stuff that’s open but running at reduced capacity will be able to run at full capacity?

That’s the only significant change that I can see for most people with the end to social distancing.

I suspect face coverings will still be a thing for a while.

If this is special, then yes :man_shrugging:t4:
I don’t know - going into a cafe without a mask might be nice.
Or being allowed to order a drink “au bar”

You’re old T-Dog; ordering at the bar is so teenies.

We go to small (micro) bars and gin places, where it’s nice to chat to the owner, get their recommendations etc.

Being seated at a table has taken that away

I also rarely have the same thing, so like to peruse!

Table service has always been a Continental thing, so I guess it could be here to stay in many places.

Let’s hope there isn’t a last-minute knee jerk reaction based on the recent fiasco in Portugal.

All clear, move the football final there inviting 10,000 or so fans, week later, numbers spike and travel to Portugal is under threat again.
