Ironman UK 2021

Yeah - I reckon the 25/26mm Corsa G+ won’t be a bad bet.

There’s this Effetto latex tubular sealant that claims it can fix holes up to 10mm :scream:

I changed a tub in about 5 minutes on Sunday, so I’m deffo quicker doing that than wrestling with a Conti 5000

Although, if it’s wet, I’ll be on my alloy 35mm Vision clinchers :+1:t3:
I’d rather remain alive than chase a time :man_shrugging:t4:

I saw the post … I’m way way slower than that, and really wouldn’t fancy it in a race.

I got a puncture on a group ride three weeks ago, Bolton loop with people from all over the country, I’m pretty slow with flats, but the Easton slx alloy rim and huge gp 4000 tyres ( says 28 mm on the side, but there considerably bigger than 5000”s ) were sorted with no levers!

Even bone shaker alley, the bit past the school was fine on those bad boys.

Good man :clap:t3:

I think it’s all about what gives you confidence on race day, isn’t it?

The comfort in knowing the trade-off between time and tyre is worth it, in the rare event of a flat.

As it’s three loops of 50km, for a large scale event, I’d really expect them to have swept the roads with a street cleaner :face_with_monocle:

How heavy is it? I always used a disc, because it was a Zipp 900, which is essentially the same as a deep rim in weight. But a lot of the ‘cheaper’ (relatively!) discs are pretty heavy.

I think the bottom half of the loop will more than make up the weight penalty of a disc :+1:t3:

I had a tub disc… bloody hell… it was heavy ?!

Newer one is clincher honeycomb in the middle and it’s not too bad, it’s heavier than most of my rears but two of those are basically hill climb wheels.

It has a slight wobble2?mm but brakes really well, I can mend a puncture on it easily and it makes a really loud noise, obvs the most important bit.

I had a Powertap pro+ on Open Pro rim with a wheel cover. Now that was heavy :see_no_evil:

Being a tub I really don’t know why it was so heavy?

Gator tub
Alloy break track
Older … hed… ?! I think ?

I guess once they get going it doesn’t matter unless your going uphill for a long time or start/ stop riding.

WTF has a lion to do with Bolton or Lancs???

Now, a tiger, perhaps :joy:

Also, is there enough Plantagenet roses on there, FFS :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Might paint mine blue, house of York, style

ETA: There’s a lion on Bolton town hall steps, and it also signifies the bravery and commitment of athletes taking part in 2021

I see on RWGPS that there’s an “IMUK TBC” run course which finishes in Queens Park :face_with_monocle:
