Hi everyone. Long time reader first time poster.

Does anybody know what is going to happen to racers that are from Scotland if Sturgeon doesn’t lift the travel ban for Bolton before the event. She is reviewing it every Friday apparently but we are running out of time.

I’ve emailed Ironman and got no response!!

I’m not up on the Scottish situation I’m afraid. But didn’t like 50k Scots travel to London for the footy on Friday? I’m assuming none of them were quarantined on return etc.

Sure you’d be fine to race.

Welcome. IM gave everyone an option to defer. I’d be taking that before it expires as they’ve been quite good for once. Jimmy Krankie might not say much to 20000+ drunk ticketless kilt wearers travelling on mass to London but it is likely to be England’s fault when things go wrong so expect restrictions to not change too much in next couple of weeks.

Welcome to TriTalk :wave:t4:

I’d still race; it’s ridiculous.
The race is going ahead, English government are happy for you to come here.

Scotland are creating English local lockdowns.
Which the English don’t have.

Come on down, we welcome you :relaxed::kissing_smiling_eyes:

Do what 20,000 of your sweaty countrymen did on Friday, just ignore the rules, come anyway and infect the rest of us. :joy:

Devils advocate, that’s slightly like saying you should feel free to go to Portugal etc and the UK is imposing lockdowns there.
He still needs to be aware of what the Scottish rules are.

Exactly what’s happening :+1:t3:

Thanks for the replies. It’s not that I have to quarantine when I get back, if that was the case I would just race. It’s that there is currently a statute saying that you can’t travel to Bolton, Darwen and Blackburn and from tomorrow Manchester and Salford.

Unless the rules change between now and the race I won’t be able to race. I can’t be ‘breaking’ the rules due to my work.

I was wandering if any knows what Ironman’s policy was in deferring late in the day because of travel restrictions?

Have a good race everyone, hopefully I’ll be there :crossed_fingers:

Good luck I hope you find a satisfactory outcome. I must say I am somewhat puzzled by the race going ahead but then I have been rather puzzled by lots of the decisions over these past months.

Sorry, how many laps is it; 3 plus some noodling about?

NO!!!

It’s strong winds, but the one that blows sideways across the A666, then blows you UP the Pike and across Rivington.
Headwind through Bolton, but it’s not as bad as it’s lower down.

Also, that was a stupid 260W lap

I am now dead.
Second lap was 1:48 :rofl::rofl::rofl::face_vomiting:

3 X 50km loops, plus a 1-2% 30km incline up a faux dual carriageway

Do you get to go back down the DC?

No unfortunately.

Run starts from town centre after 3 rd loop

Went that way 2 weeks ago, it’s really fast as it’s all downhill … ish.
