Bought them too. Could use them in IMUK under a wetsuit but not in Kona - non wetsuit swim and they take too long to put on when wet (I’ve tested this!). Plus they’d probably rip when pulling them on in a hurry. And if you used them in a wetsuit swim you’d have to shave your knees and lower quads anyway…!
Also bought aero arm warmers because the ones I used at IMUK and in Kona were garbage too…!
I got some of these with the plan to wear them… whilst they were good on the run, they felt much stickier/sweatier and not as good on the compression side as normal compression socks.
Hopefully that didnt cost me 25 minutes
Several supersapiens patches
Sorry, no adult male outside of east Africa has a 28" waist.
Lol corrected above, it’s 29
It is a challenge to buy trousers because many that are 28 or 30 waist also have tight thighs, which doesn’t work here
M&S to the rescue
I actually wore them over a pair of standard calf guards as they gave a bit more compression benefit.
@jaylen84 had a similar problem at Nice when they banned wetsuits, but as I was only there for fun I think I put both pairs on in T1 while I was having my cup of tea
This came up on Slowtwitch very recently. It does seem odd that there only seems to have been this one study into this, given the pretty unbelievable results.
HRM strap visible in some way
Bottle of Tailwind to keep you company
My outfit needs to scream IRONMAN™
Maybe a Rapha titanium dangle mug hanging off my hip?
There was a chap at Lakesman with superman socks… with CAPES on !!!
Hawaiian shirt. Scare everyone off
And a lei?
Walk round shaking the thumbs and little fingers saying aloha to everyone
I need a belt with my 29" shorts, and I’m way above my racing weight…
I doubt anyone will be there
I’m aiming to get a spot on Thursday afternoon, it’s only 30 minutes away
Then have a dip in the Flash before or after.
Work have given EVERYONE Friday afternoon off, so I’ll sticker my bike up and sort my bags out then.
Saturday I can just drop everything off in a few minutes, having recce’d the sites on Thursday afternoon
I don’t know if I’d dip in the flash pre-race. The water is calm and not cold and has poor visibility and occasional algae and swan/duck waste. If you do dip, swill and drink some flat coke immediately after. I did this in T1. Kills any bugs or germs and gives you a little caffeine boost
My Woodhall Spa one is balck I will have you know!!
(my favourite triathlon)
It looks nice on Facebook currently?
@Mungo2 - what’s your WhatsApp group saying to this
Looks decent to me.
Showers….!
No…
It’s going to be nice, I’ll ask.
It’s good for the Ironman swim for me. Relatively warm and calm and not full of jellyfish etc. But for me the hassle and “risk” of a pre race dip isn’t worth it. Each to their own, I’m sure you’ll be fine if you do. The coke is worth it though!
