@Mungo2 sorry to hear your news…I thought you had escaped your fall. Fingers crossed for a minor miracle before the weekend :crossed_fingers:

So did I…

Miracles only happen in the bible, but I’m praying lots.

Great result at Lakesman, well done

Oh just read about your woes. I hope you can turn things around for Sunday. Can you get prescribed some Naproxen? (basically an improvement on Diclofenac). I would try and do plenty of ‘active release’ on your back, using a rubber ball or massage gun if you have one; then stretch it out afterwards.

Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Naproxen was the only thing that worked with my sciatica 2010 woes your probably one of the few that May remember ?

Pretty sure I have some somewhere ?!

Doing the same routine twice a day, seems to be helping a touch, it’s very off and on, but swimming today was a complete non starter.

I won’t race dosed up for that amount of time, but there will be a few brufen in the bento if I get there …

Cheers Leader !

Good luck to all racing and Mungo 2 such a kick in the jewels to get so close then have an off. Heal up and then re assess or see how you feel and have a crack at it, whichever way chin up and roll on !

So…when do the MPROs start?

Looking at the ~50km loop, they should be doing that in under 90minutes.

Just wondering at what point, or if, I will get lapped by Skipper, Laidlow and The Don?

ETA: How much do we believe this?
It’s currently foggy and raining where I am, but it’s telling me the current weather is 6% chance of precipitation and that is cloudy?

Bit of Sandbagging there Poet :grinning: :fishing_pole_and_fish:

“Just wondering at what point, or if, I will get lapped by Skipper, Laidlow and The Don?”

u will be in their pace line “smashing it”

No way :x:
Although I can’t wait to see them, and be passed by them, on the run :+1:t3::heart_eyes:

RE: Weather
I’m currently thinking Gabba, aero jersey, or just a vest underneath my Trisuit?
Wanna be warm, but not too hot!

I’ve been out in 13 degrees at 7am in short sleeves doing my training rides, but wear a base layer.

I get cold hands, so may take some gloves…but without a jersey, I’ve nowhere to stash them if I get warm.

GAH!!!

Spare socks for the run is now 100% nailed on as a yes.

Wondering about Lycra booties for the bike?
Or maybe Velotoze?
The latter form a good seal and stop my feet getting wet.

SO MANY CHOICES!!!

So sorry to hear this @Mungo2. Train for god know how many months and wiped out a few days before. However, if you’ve noticed a slight improvement, just keep resting, do the release and stretching routine and your body might feel so much better in 4 days. Really keeping eveything crossed for you, but number 1 priority has to be your health, and safety, especially in the swim.

The pro’s start at 6, us mortals at 6:05

It takes me an age to get my Velotoze on, and even longer to get them off when they are drenched in sweat and I’m knackered.

Just seen that on the tracker app :+1:t3:
Looks like you’ll be swimming through the six female pros who are starting.

As it’s a $100k prize purse, paying ten deep, do they all just get paid for finishing???
For very good female age groupers, could they switch to the FPRO race and get $1k for coming in 10th FPRO?

So, c’mon, how’s your taper?

Decent swim yesterday and a nice morning run for you.

@BadAsh - I can squeeze my feet into the shoes with Velotoze on, then just roll them up :+1:t3:

The 5 minute lead will make it more interesting to see how many I can catch on the swim :smiling_imp:
Taper is going well. 1:30 ride this morning with 30min @ 200W(201W avg, 212NP 117HR) and 3x10min @216W (1=211W, 117HR 2= 216W, 115HR 3= 210W, 117HR) which felt comfortable. Target for Sunday is 210 to 216W average
Run straight off 3.57 miles 7:40min/mile 136HR which as above is the target pace & effort for Sunday.
Like yourself, the HR was low for the power output on the bike, so a good sign. Legs feeling good.
