Harder, easier, faster, slower, more/less technical???

All of the above.

Anyone got the 16/17 course to hand for comparison?

Any chance it’s all closed roads now? That was my only real complaint of the old course.

:joy::joy::joy:

Is there any closed road course???
In the UK? Or abroad?
For a full or half?

Well, it should be closed roads. I guess the point @joex was making was the handful of idiots that have historically ignored that at Bolton, and driven along the course anyway. For example, knocking off the guy from my club who still managed to finish, and scrape through to Kona.

Thankfully I’ve never encountered that. Every Ironman course I’ve done has been closed, and entirely free from traffic, as advertised.

I never saw one car anywhere in the course last year.
One Marshall said oncoming traffic at one point

There was none and there no bother to us.

I rode in the middle of the road all the way round, well the bits with no potholes…!

Definitely in 2017 we were sharing road with trucks and cars for a section, can’t remember where. Made me quite angry.

And Kona. RE: Matt Russell.

Idiots aren’t exclusive to Bolton.
It’s a worldwide problem.

I also witnessed someone going through a car windscreen at a race, just coming out of transition and a car thought they could come down the closed road.

Like I said, Idiots aren’t exclusive to Bolton.
It’s a worldwide problem.

FTFY.

Ironman = 140.6

We don’t use the brand name “Ironman” to call 70.3’s “Ironman’s”.

Okay?
Good

To add to that, I concede that some 70.3s appear to be closed roads.

Dubai isn’t.
Look at how it affects the race there.
1:55 bike splits anyone?
Yes please!

How do you think all of these DC TTers clock 53 minutes off 240W? It’s not CDA, and that’s fo’ sho’

Southport Tri is closed roads.
I’m proper looking forward to that one!
That’s my first ever head down and drill it race

Lanza is closed roads…or at least it was! Some sections only one side was closed.

So not closed roads then

True dat.

Two athletes on very different levels on the new loop tomorrow.

One a loud and proud cut off chaser the other potentially very fast…

See what they make of it…

Now it’s official, I’ll be looking to go up one Wednesday.
Can’t do next week, maybe 26th or any Weds in March.

There doesn’t seem to be much point doing the jig from the lake to the loop, or the out and back but after that…so I’ll probs just do the main loop twice (60 miles?)
