Ironman UK 2021

Loads of people said this, but if you swim under an hour, things are generally a bit quieter

Hope it all goes well tomorrow @Mungo2 :crossed_fingers:

@FatPom, I swam 1:40 in my first Iron Distance race, 53rd out of the water (out of 71 starters  )
I believe even the NumpT @Toyota_Crown beat me out of the water that day (13th July 2008 - ForestMan)
(Hopefully, he racks and registers in time this year :stuck_out_tongue: )

Anyway…I’ve just been looking at my race results…

ON THIS VERY DAY in 2012, I was doing my “final” Outlaw (how little did I know)

PBd that day, but was mightily annoyed, as it was SLIGHTLY breezy, which totally threw me off.

Stupidly, I still aimed for a 5:20 bike split and just missed it by a few seconds.
Now, I’m not and never have been a “biker” - I’m just enough above average at all three disciplines to be reasonable at this lark
I got 30th best bike split (including relays!!!) or 22nd excluding them
I came 28th overall (including relays) or 21st excluding the blighters!

I like doing this, as it shows I every year at Outlaw, I over biked, then detonated on the run.
However, I didn’t detonate as badly as my peers, as I managed to drag myself up a few positions on the jog.
My times are nothing but consistent

The ForestMan run from 2010 is easily my best run performance, which was helped by taking the bike easy.
Just gotta remember this on Sunday, as the masses of 70 minute swimmers are screaming past me.
I’ll see 'em again at the Black Dog on Lap 3, as they’re grovelling up the hill.

Mine’s an ice cold Fozzies @mungo2 :beers:

I’ll have it ready TJ!

You … plan x tt bike, half a bike shop hanging off the back of saddle, bum showing through huub suit…?

Me …. Angry pi@@ed off bald headed midjit, wearing Gennady Golovkin t shirt, I’ll probably have already decked a few, probably women and children! By the first lap.

Your bike strat is identical to GG, he will take some scalps on that final lap.

Ha ha ha - I’m doubling up the shorts :see_no_evil:
Not see through this time.

But aye, I’m not mad keen on the spares situation, especially after buying that box, but it means I can carry 3 x Maurten 320, which I know is enough for a 200km ride, so should see me through 180km with some bars, free PowerShots and a gels :+1:t3:

Right, gotta go decide on kit options…

Alloy brake tracks for a damp day?

Coming down sheephouse on carbons in the wet with the other 1600? is a place best avoided!

Gg pedals down it… utter nutter!

Good luck tomorrow and fingers crossed the scans show nothing serious @Mungo2

I’ve not tested the Exalith brake track in the wet :see_no_evil:
