Ironman UK 2021

Nice but if you need the stuff hanging on the back wall it might be a bit late!

Have a great day hope you exceed expectations but overall have a safe and enjoyable day

I had ‘L’ on my bib for Wales but no shirt picture. I assumed it just meant ‘Late’ :laughing:

Can’t imagine Poet needing an XL!

He wanted all the cloth he could get so it would be a more effective bike cleaning rag.

I assumed he was keeping to sell on Ebay to an IMJer that didn’t train and then realised crowd power is only good for about 5 mins. :wink:

I’m 185cm.
Medium isn’t long enough, so my belly sticks out.
Large fits originally, but after a few washes, they shrink.
So I went with XL :man_shrugging:t4:

But never mind that, I’ve got some heartbreaking news :broken_heart::cry:

I was sorting my bike kit out and realised I’d be wearing;

Rapha socks
2XU compression shorts
Huub Trisuit
Castelli jersey
Castelli gloves

This simply cannot do :triumph::pouting_cat:

Correct strategy. One does not wear event finisher shirts to other events.

Personally I only wear them out running or in bed! In fact many of the Ironman and Outlaw ones are Polos, so no good for training either :roll_eyes: So it’s usually a Cotswold 113 or 226 shirt; although IM Hamburg did go back to crew neck 2 years ago. There was a period of hideous polos that looked like darts shirts.

Probably the best quality Finisher Shirt was Frankfurt 2015; nice thick stretch white crew neck t-shirt with black stitching. We all seriously earned that one! I guess it’s in my drawer somewhere. @funkster you got that one?

Nah you’ve got to do the inverse thing. IM shirts at Parkrun and the Middle Wallop family 5km shirt at Kona. :laughing:

I like wearing a shirt for the opposite of what I’m doing. At a race I might wear a motorbike t-shirt etc. Having said that, if I had a Western States finisher shirt, I’d wear that bastard everywhere, weddings, my own funeral, interviews, the lot. :wink:

I do like that style :rofl:

I plan to put this in my post race bag for the Fan Dance :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

For IM registration it’s usually some unpleasantly designed retro footy top and for racking my original and ill-fitting Z cycling shirt

Yeah i’m all about casual shorts and normal tshirt. Don’t wear event cotton tees - they’ll go to rag bin - and ‘technical’ tops will become running tees.

Morning of event i’ll be in shorts and flip flops until the last second.

An Ironman good news story!

I hope you have a blast spectating though; that can actually be better than racing in my experience :rofl:

I know we slate it … someone is asking if he can leave his bike anywhere in T2 on Sunday?!?

But two people on IMJ deferred bye to covid, one guy said I’ve just deferred, I didn’t give a reason…?!

I mailed them, I told them about the X-ray results, they messaged back a nice touch saying I was ok, and the results were nothing to worry about.

I was amazed at this stage of proceedings, fair play.
