He’s been looking forward to the swim/bike…
…but he’s unsure about the hill through Queens Park on the run.
So if anyone is there, I bet he’d love some AG placing a and encouragement at that hill.

looks wrong, the second split is slow, so probably mat at wrong distance inflating the pace.
Was just about to say I think that first bike split is out. My nephew went through 20s quicker than Adam and although they’re both capable of that pace things would probably get painful later on!
It’s a fairly quick section though
Hills for second Mat.
But I’d say you’re right, as that first section is 1-2% ish.
Yeah, timing mats at events are often a shambles. Half the people I’m following don’t have a T1 time & there’s no excuse for cycle/run mats to be so random.
Yeah I regard the timing mats as primarily for family on the course to know where they are. Unless you really know the course the segment speed can’t mean much. And to deter course cutters.
Let’s face it, these are perfect conditions for him, he’s raced all his life in them
Big drop off for @adam on that 70-100km section.
More chip nonsense or a mechanical? Or is it a really hilly bit?
Who is Ben Goodfellow?!
Still putting time into Dan Elliot, Matty & Dan McP
@Doonhamer ’s mate “Wilf”
He started posting on TR a few weeks ago, coming out from duathlon success into Staffs 70.3 and today ripping it up no doubt
“1st overall in the AG World & European Middle distance duathlon champs. 2nd British Standard Duathlon champs & 1st in Welsh Sprint Duathlon Champs.”
Mechanical for Goodfellow?
My pal Graham in 9th. Proper north-west fest at the top of the leaderboard.
Top 6 will all be coming off the bike within 2-3 min of eachother by the looks of it.
It’s a bit drizzly over here, descending can’t be fun
I’m just heading to Bolton now, try and look out for Adam.
I recognised a few of the names near the top
I’m just getting up !
Watched the ufc live, hours weights then hopefully me and Doris ( girl not cat) are heading over to watch the big race.
What number is Adam again ?
First time in 10 years I’ve not been on course (3 times doing it, 3 different bike courses!)
The atmosphere on the run is amazing. Where you headed?
1166
George Martindale made a move in the last 1/4 of the bike which was to be expected.
Those bike course average speeds for the Top 10 males vary from 31.5kmh to 36.5kmh.
I’d wager the difference is in descending skills.
