Great stuff well done. I think over the years Bolton has gone from a ‘no way’ to a ‘maybe’ for me, certainly a tough day

Times look slightly quicker this year
2019 was just silly and 21 was awful conditions.

Great atmosphere as always

Considering its being won in 9:38 says it definitely hasn’t got much quicker in the last few years despite course changes from 2019.

Great job by anyone who gets round that, proper honest course.

Echo the thoughts that most those competing at the top are recurrent IMUK athletes and living close by.

Mixed day for my nephew and his wife. He did 12:26 on his first Ironman, despite having stomach problems from about halfway on the run so lost quite a bit of time. Still seemed pleased to get round though.

His wife had a small spill near the start of the bike, then a puncture which split the tyre, by the time the support helped her out she was going to be struggling and was timed out at 95 miles. Fairly sure she’d have made it otherwise.

Sorry to hear about her woes, that must be so frustrating.

Just how it goes sometimes, I think she’d accepted it by the time they got her. But she’ll hopefully have another go. As above she couldn’t have picked a tougher debut

Slight tangent!

Working my way through that, shame Cerrone called it a day but probably the right decision

Sorry for the late reply, as soon as I was finished with the post race admin I jumped in the car and drove home. My legs were feeling shite before hand, now they’ve well and truly seized up.

I haven’t read the thread at all and will catch up with it tomorrow

Also received various texts, Facebook messages and instagram dms etc which I haven’t looked at yet. Aside from uploading the race to Strava and giving my wife a quick ring my phone has been left untouched.

Would just like to say thank you to all that tracked me today, it really means a lot knowing that others are taking the time out of their day to see how I’m fairing - when it got hard today, which was a lot… you were all in my mind! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Special shout-out to @Doonhamer - I couldn’t believe it when I saw your face very enthusiastically shout my name - you pulled me out of a little dark hole and it was a pleasure seeing you each lap - so thank you very much!

I’ll post up my race day musing tomorrow, but now, bed. I’m knackered!
