This is getting a bit Slowtwitch
You could have your wires crossed; Costa is probably the hispanic equivalent of Smith
May well be the case. This guy could well be a legit racer.
But⌠this is the issue with the whole thing: it all boils down to trusting strangers, and given we know people cheat, accepting a form of self accreditation to a world championships is just insane.
And in so many things, if I wanted to compete Id compete against people I knew.
Did anyone else see that story about the Formula E driver whoâs got into trouble for getting a professional e-sports driver to stand in for him in an on-line race?
Takes number swapping beyond the pale.
angled the camera away so you couldnât see his/her face apparently!
I heard an interview with one of the other drivers who said they knew straight away as it just wasnât his driving style. I guess when theyâre so attuned to each otherâs driving it stands out to them but I thought that was pretty impressive, especially on a computer game.
I like to think my e-driving style is akin to those toy cars that change direction every time they hit a wall
Why would Garmin show different numbers? The only reason I can see is that Garmin was connected to pedal or crank PM and Rouvy was connected to Turbo
⌠I still beat him by 3 mins
Yep, no idea. Sounds like heâs making excuses
Maybe having Andy Dreitz sat on another turbo directly in front of him wasnât included in Rouvyâs modelling?
Fantastic!!
As a slight aside, how well did you feel Rouvy reflected real life?
I watched Lange win previously at AR Boulder 70.3 with a 2h20 split when the course recordholder was way behind him - and that guy has done the real course in 2h. It made me suspect the Rouvy courses/engine are slow.
Graphics looked good⌠but looked like the most boring course ever
In terms of pace, I think that it was realistic, maybe a little slow: I averaged 42kph, with an elevation of 211m and AP 275w. In Elsinore, in the real world, I averaged 39.6kph, with a elevation of 457m, but I was much less strong on the bike and had an AP of 240w.
Zwift is certainly faster, a course like Tempus Fugit, with similar evelvation would be much closer to 48kph average
Calling the TT denizens. Bearing in mind Iâm a 55yr old fat guy with a broken back, whatâs a good time for Tick Tock? I have that as a badge to get and was thinking of giving it a proper nudge (not today).
I have the Zwift TT bike and 808s at my disposable, Iâm level 30 with 3.7m drops, so not sure if the Venge or P5 is available to me?
I would guesstimate my FTP to be approx 220 atm.
Whatever time you post!
I dont think you can see past course efforts, only the whole rides, and I tended to use Tempus Fugit for my TT efforts.
Indoors I still think watts are a better measure than speed, so if your FTP is 220 and you can hold ~230 for the course Iâd say was good.
Perhaps do an FTP test on that route, then next time do it as a TT?
Looking at previous race, I think it should take you about 30 mins, but could be a little quicker.
Solo I would use Shiv and 808s, if you find a drafting race, then I would go with Cevelo S5 and 808s
Its mostly flat, with one short but nasty climb
Thanks both, Iâll check it out. I realised I posted this in the wrong thread. Apologies.
This really is a piece of piss to cheat at.
I can quite easily do the following:
Crop a parkrun to 3km (the quickest) then download that file.
Delete that parkrun from Strava
Open up the .GPX (or whatever file) in Notepad and manually amend the date using FIND AND REPLACE
Upload that
Do the bike ride on Rouvy properly (or, using an ANT+ bridge/USBQ or similar)
After youâve showered, then find your fastest 10km race, and repeat as above.
If thatâs not quick enough, figure out what it needs to be, then work backwards from your finishing time in the .GPX file, manually amending all of the time stamped points.
You could even write something to do that for you in the time itâd take to actually run it.
