Well done, mate!
Well done. Great pool time!
@Hewligan he is riding the official IM Kona course on Rouvy.
Oh, of course. I had a brain fade!
TAP HERE FOR POWER
Oh andâŚ
DONâT BE SHIT
I feel like shit, does that count?
Hit the halfway point at 2h46 but Not looking good now. 145km 4h35 and Im longing for my bed
Can I swim the rest?
Keep moving forward âŚ
In your case keep turning the pedals âŚ!
My vote is for a 42km pub crawl. Pub/pint every 6km. That way you can combine your end of day reward with the âcooldownâ portion of your Ironman
Okay, hours 4-5 were just awful. I hesitate to call it a second wind but at 5h I felt better even if output stayed awfulâŚwhy do we do this?
Bike 05:43:49
I am pretty cold already and not looking forward to the run
Crawl is going to be the right word either way!
The funny thing is that Im actually running past two pubs - at the start and at the 5km mark of a 10km loop. Maybe just a half in each, right?
Itâd be rude not to, right.
I reckon some of my IM marathons would have gone better with some alcoholâŚoffered a lot of beer at IM Bolton and would have accepted but for the fear of DQ if Iâd been seen!
Canât be more harmful to the average IM death March than Red Bull!..that stuff nearly finished me offâŚnever had it before and it made me feel very nauseous indeed.
I too have been tempted by the beer offers at Bolton. But Im the kind of ass thats snaps at the kids handing out jelly babies, so Stella hold no sway over me.
Good luck anyway. You can update us from a booth in the pub if you need to warm up and get ahem hydrated
Keep going, onto the easy bit now
Yeah, remember the medal you get will be so rare.
Reckon youâll be able to sneer at Norseman black t shirt ownersâŚ
âOh yeahâŚI did the virtual IM in 2020âŚno back up, no supporters, nowtâŚjust me and some pork scratchings at 40kmâŚâ
I was very slow and very late at the midnight sun half marathon in tromso, had such a bad run - Iâd not slept in days with the travel and endless fâing sun - oh and I was a really crap runner - but even then I was going badly. But running into the middle of Tromso in mid summer after midnight meant there were loads of drunk norwegians on the street offering beers. I didnât accept any though, I probably wouldnâtâve made it, the people waiting for me were already getting worried.
Thatâs IM Wales for all us slow guys in a nutshell. Lots of beer, lots of temptation, lots of chance of never resurfacing if you so much as down 1ml of the amber nectar!
21km into the run. Left knee blowing up slowly somce the bike. A bit dizzy and gels not sitting well now. 50/50 walking. So about par for course for me.
Time to findf a flatter route before the leg gives out entirely.
Your nearly there ⌠ishâŚ
Keep going !!!
