Ironman Wales 2023

A little stress test:

  • Do I have the natural talent to kq? Yes No
  • Do I have the time available to me? Yes No
  • Do I have the resources available? Yes No
  • Even if it rolled down 40 spots, would I still be there on the Monday? Yes No
  • Even if it rolled down 40 spots and I was still there, would I take a massive roll down? Yes No
  • Even if it rolled down 40 spots, I was still there and I got over my ego, could I afford to take the slot? Yes No

If you answered mostly ‘Yes’ - Hooray. Pack your flowery shirts, you’re on you way to the trip of a lifetime to a slightly more tropical version of Lanzarote.

If you answered mostly ‘No’ - Booo. Chin up chump. Looks like you’ll be having to repair that tent of yours before you go camping in the wind and rain overlooking Devonport. Cos that’s all you can afford this year!

You realise that qualifying for Kona requires zero natural talent, right?

It’s just time + money :person_shrugging:t3:

Just? :grinning:

Ahh yes, but in 2024 it won’t be in Kona and probably somewhere like Blackpool to maintain a sea swim so your lame excuses will be invalid :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ignoring Kwasi’s comments … i have no desire to get my ass handed to me by actually talented triathletes in a ‘WC’. I in no way see myself in the same stratosphere as your Matt/Chickenboy/Sid/Mr Me’s (and all the other guys/gals that i haven’t listed) of this world.

77 :sob:

But i’m a sucky swimmer and an ok (tri) cyclist.

I do, however, have lofty ambitions for the run that are probably waaaay beyond my ability! haha

You’re packing those sandbags very early for this :joy:

I think most people and even those on here would refer to someone being able to drop a sub 3 mara without much training as definitely being talented (natural or otherwise). At least in the running game anyway!

I’ve not seen Wreck It Ralph, didn’t realise that’s what it’s about.

Oh I hear that.

I reckon I’d win the AG at Ironman Antartica.

And come second in the species group after the Emporer penguin, well ahead of the seals- those guys are so bad on a bike

They keep falling off and the volunteers have to pick up a penguin.

I thought I would be straight on the enter train when it opened but strangely not so inclined now it is a reality. I might just be finished?
