Might be raised due to Bolton and lakesman going?
Just the final tier left at ÂŁ559 + 9.25%
There wonât be any accomodation left as well.
Think I might be travelling abroad next year, which to be honest will be a nicer journey than driving those windy hilly cross-country roads down to Tenby.
Who said IM was dead
Considering Aus near enough fills 3x IM each year with 1000 full and 1000 in 70.3 same day, youâd expect UK popn 70mil to fill 1-2 IM even with the increase in smaller events.
Kiln park has no availability for IM weekend looks like I am ghetto camping !
Cos theyâve all gone over to doing ultras in the UK!
That doesnât tell the full story of IM in Oz, you need a bit of history for context. WA has always done fairly well but when IMOZ moved from Forster. (which was purely down to an Independent state candidate called Rob Oakshott buying votes for the move), it went well for a few years but numbers declined badly in the end.
It was only combining the 70.3s which saved it. One of the reasons the 70.3 races are popular is that IM simply killed most of the other HIMs. Ballarat, Shep, SA, Lake Tinaroo, Canberra and Yeppoon all just went once not commercially viable.
The reason IMs fill up is because the competition has been neutralised there. I canât think of an iron distance race thatâs put on by someone else now (maybe Sri Chimnoy?). The MMM race at Akuna Bay was a cracker but Aussies hate hard courses, so it wouldnât fly.
The old Canberra HIM course was proper hard but then it went to a 3 lapper, which was still lumpy by todayâs standards but nothing like it was.
IMs fill up because in Oz because is simply no alternative. Same with 'Hooksieâs Half in NZ.
We wonât mention 226 in Melb or David Burtâs Monaro
Atlantic still had a spot 3 days ago (the small single room though) but probably gone by now. Wait until around June-August and stuff always pops up
Sold out now.
Although I suppose with Bolton and Ireland gone itâs the only one on the British isles.
Hotels tills will be ringing!
