It’s the same in boxing
Holyfield
RJJ
Canelo
Whyte
Milllar

There all pretty much hated by the hardcore fans, AJā€s last fight his opponent popped dirty then the replacement (who he beat ) was pos after the fight

It’s a huge problem at the moment
Not cycling in the 90ā€s type problem but it’s going that way now.

As Matt says loads of grief on there for vino and his kin, but comments like ā€œ loads of age groupers dope tooā€

But as a % I would say less than 1%?
Easily

I doubt if Vino and Jalabert were doping for the IM WC, but their years on the juice in the pro peloton would certainly have helped.

A course like Nice with the big mountain climb and the long descent is made for a former pro cyclist

Pretty sure Vino was sub 5 on the bike, and some pro’s were only 4:45?

Didn’t Ali b beat him by a min? Or something insane for a 45 year age grouper on a Kona bike split?

He’s a horrible cheat, I’ll. never be as fast as him, not even close, the same as everyone else on here, but I’m 100% sure I have a harder right hook !

Wouldn’t be totally surprised as he’d probably get a lot of slingshot as well in a race as he’s well down on the swim.

Still ran 3:15 but the endurance base would help and as above, he must have gone through most of the field as we were one of the last swim waves.

I’ve done a couple of races with Vino, he comes out of the swim around the same time as me… obviosly drafts me on the bike for a bit

He lives close to Nice, he IM course is his local playground, he has the KOM on the descent, I’ve seen a video of him, one foot unclipped, drifting the rear wheel on that descent (probably not the fastest, but very impressive to watch)

Knowledge of the course and descent will gain a good few minutes, and you’d need to be a decent descender anyway to be in the pro field at his level.

Hmm, this time last year I was walking it home and trying not to be sick at the airport :face_vomiting::joy:

It’s obviously a couple of weeks later this year for some reason.

Isn’t timing all about the moon phase in Kona?

That’s what I certainly was led to believe and can see it mentioned here (found from a quick google search). The full moon in October is on Thursday 17th but the race is on 26th October so perhaps there’s a different reason why it’s over a week after the full moon. I’m sure it was discussed at slowtwitch when the date was first announced.

I was talking about the ladies race in Nice being later this year than we did.

Don’t think the med is very tidal?
