Gustav making a move?

Was just going to say the same - Iden up to second but Laidlow pushing on up the road

Ive ridden lots over the years at varying cadences because of my track efforts, im still not sure theres a right way and wrong way.

Way off topic but would be it interesting to hear - I did a low cadence turbo session today and was quite surprised with the perceived effort compared riding with a normal higher cadence

arguably, there is…

Lower cadence lower PE?

Although it’s a while since I read about this, it’s not so much about right and wrong but slight shifts in load from central to peripheral from high to low cadence.

ETA: there’s also a neural component where higher cadence causes an increase HR that is reduced in heart transplant patients suggesting some minor vagal inhibition with a higher cadence.

you find which easier?

how long was the session, what was the cadence range and what was your ‘normal’ cadence?

No higher

I was riding around 55 rpm

So

Norway, Norway Neumann, Ditlev I reckon for top 4 based on current situation.

You’re not backing Sam Laid-low’s run then???

Sorry derailing the thread

Normally I’d say I ride around 90-100

Today I did my intervals at around 50-60 rpm, so quite a difference

Just under 2 hours

And I would say I normally find spinning faster easier but I do appreciate this is something I’m not experienced at (spinning slower).

I’m confused by Joe’s approach. I get not absolutely smashing the bike, but he surely had to have a goal of getting off the bike with KB? He’s ended up just riding in a pack of traditional uber-bikers, but that seems to be just taking it steady.

Maybe the calm conditions are the cause. Significantly higher watts just won’t yield that much extra speed given how fast they’re already going, and hence there’s juts not much opportunity to eat into the gap

Why TF do they have all 3 Motos on the lead group. At least #3 should be going back to chasers.

He must be backing his run to get him into contention - I’m surprised with both him and Wurf coming out together that they haven’t really pushed it

Nice to have Allen and Scott on but even they can’t bring levity to the insane ramblings of Greg Welch

That’s very low. I was thinking more 80 vs 95. Proper grinding at 50…

Because they seemingly employ a production crew of work experience students based on the quality. It’s like watching an under 9s football match and all the kids running around in a swarm after the ball. The ball in this analogy is the front of the race.

Can you imagine watching a sprint stage of the tdf where all you saw was the breakaway for 5hrs, and suddenly with 3k to go the bunch flies by. :person_facepalming:

Even Wurf is losing time; he’s at 6 mins now. Are the front group on a ‘suidide’ mission? I guess we’ll find out.

TOD’s group drifting back to Wurf’s.

He’s not lost time to the front group. Only lost time to Laidlow, that’s the same time Laidlow has put into KB and GI
