Yeah it’s horrific for aero.
But I think @gingerbongo pointed out you should be back into T2 hydrated and raring to go for your run
What does he know … he’s a prick and not even a proper triathlete. /
Thought it was a solid point

Edit - and bollocks - what bottle you using at the 113? - got your talc and rubber bands ready?
@Poet’s old BTA thing with the straw, can’t remember what it was called - double concentrate high 5 zero in there. Plus an Elite Chrono downtube bottle with my Maurten in. Will have a bottle of high 5 zero at transition. Huge slurp of that before i start the bike will buy me 30 mins without needing to drink. Big slurp at T2 as well.
I don’t think i’m gonna bother with mounted shoes. I don’t have time/inclination to practise to save a couple of seconds on a half. If it was Oly/Sprint then i’d make the effort.
Got a kit test lined up for Thurs morning. First outing with the both bottles, first time with the trisuit in years and first crack with my Kask. Fingers are triple crossed!!! Going to do 2 hours on the bike at race power followed by 20-30 mins race pace run after in the Next2s
I was taking the piss!!
Wow
Heavy talk !
A few very fast testers have used them at the National 12.
They turn there watches round and shave there hands so I thought it would be “ average “ ish
I guess they can stay aero for much longer. Don’t need to make as many bottle pick ups etc
Swings and roundabouts.
Works for me…99 times out of 100 🤦
Alternative is a single 1 l bottle on the down tube …
May as well put a sale up !

I don’t remember it being that scenic. They even make the road from hell look picturesque 🤷
Edit 22 secs…my bike…he didn’t want me in shot tho
Too many men in pants for my liking.
I’ve had Home Office approval to enter this for 2022, as we could book a cottage at non-Covid prices and make a weekend of it.
Thoughts?
Yay, or nay?
Not being a massive fan of the Outlaw run course, how does this compare?
I like the idea of a 3.5km swim and 41km marathon, though ![]()

At the time I hated part of the run… The one km run section you go down, up, back down, back up.
But… Having watched outlaw. The empty River section, the even remoter embankment.
I think if you are running ok, then you’ve at least got loads of runners around you.
It’s prehaps a bit repetitive, but the parts around Keswick town centre fly by.
There are steps tho. But it’s pretty flat.
Swim was excellent. Other than rocks getting in and out.
Run up to T1 was a bit of a long buster. But transition itself was tiny.
Bike. There was definitely a few more draggy uphill bits. Road surface was generally much better than outlaw.
Wind only got me on the run up the coast (which is normally a tail wind) and the last bit back into Keswick.
The loop at 65ish miles brings you back into cyclists an hour behind. So less lonely for a bit.
Tho the final run in was solo.
I’d pick Lakesman if I did another. But I’ve only been there once compared to 2 x outlaws and 2 x half Outlaws. So I’m very bored of Holme Pierrepont.
I’ve done it 5 times, plus the old Sprint they had there in May, plus the evening 5km GP TT series they used to run ![]()
I didn’t like the way they’d reversed the Southern Loop to all right hand turns, when I last rode it in 2012, it was all left hand turns, which is faster, as you’re not able to cut corners on an LH turn.
Anyways…gotta go research if the Lakesman 2022 date works now…CHEERS!
So…it “works”…but it’s the week after Staffs 70.3 ![]()
Less than ideal. Unless your names TRO
Would you want to trot around Staffs?
Any chance of deferring it to 23?
