Lionel exploding in IM CDA!

I do enjoy watching Lionel’s social media stuff and following along. He does seem to overthink things though and goes to extremes to fix race issues he’s had in the past. Like this super concentrate mix he apparently had on the run, again a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Keep it simple.
This Tri-Battle thing will be a bit of a joke based on IM CdA performance.

Has anyone heard much of Paddy Langa this season?

Yeah, Tulsa was a great race

Ah yes, noted. So Jaaan will still have Lange to consider at the Big Dance; assuming both on a good day. All depends on whether PL can limit losses without overcooking the swim, which perhaps he did in 2019? I remember it was an ‘Oh F*’ moment when PL came out with the front runners last time…but then bombed.

Ah no I think he was sick, so it was a good execution not a poor strategy

He’ll be in with a good shot at Kona

Long’s win will be good for money in the sport if he can take that to Kona but I can’t see him on the podium myself.

It’s a deep field for Kona I think, but Jan still head and shoulders above the rest…so far. I suspect we’ll see some Tokyo Olympians in 2nd or 3rd but an “old hand” in the top spot

I’d like to see Sanders in the top 5, 4th or 5th but he’s in the same mood as Brownlee - win or bust. Talking of which, has Alistair said anything about his season since Leeds?

There was a post on Instagram a week ago: “Having the operation on my ankle this week and will hoping to be back training fully in a few months.”. So presumably that puts him out of Kona this year.

Yes, ‘winning on the bike’ is a strategy only Stadler perfected iirc. Generally it’s a game of patience in Kona. LIONel came very close though! Even Hellriegel (a strong rider) let Zack have enough rope to hang himself before he took the win in 97 (after coming second the previous 2 years with the bike strategy!)

I think LIONel maybe needs to become a ‘student of the sport’ and learn from the outcomes of the last 40-odd years.

Yeah i remember thinking that when i saw it. With Tokyo gone, i guess now is the perfect opportunity to hopefully get that fixed once and for all and then come back hard next year (maybe Frodo will have retired by then  )

Frodo is the the Valverde (Peter Pan) of Triathlon.

Ah shame. Good luck to him though.

That’s not fair, he maintians his innocence. Just because ‘so called’ science says his DNA matches DNA from a bag of blood from Dr Fuentes’ fridge doesn’t mean it was his. Could be his identical twin’s or he ate a burrito or something?

We’re already discussing Hamilton on another thread. Chimera for the win. :+1:

I would if I was allowed, but banned from travelling there at the moment

Lionel’s post race vid is up on Youtube. He’s going to race Frodo, continue with IM’s until he ‘cracks it’ and still wants KQ this year if possible.

Just watching it now, got an ad with Frodo in it before it played :joy:

He’s as deluded as Pete Jacobs but at least PJ won it once.

Not really followed professional sports etc in recent years in any depth, too many robots amongst them.

And I was never a fan of his, but he’s growing on me for his desire to do it his way whatever, sport needs a few more maverick characters these days compared to these corporate morons!
