ITU still hoping to run the WTS and Mixed Relay Champs there though - not been cancelled yet, but likely to be spectator free.
I think this has pretty much made my mind up about any triathlons other than Helvellyn for this year.
Less worried about running races.
Just how much money does your school fete bring in?
Apparently one of the top performing pta’s in the country… So the blurb tells me! I still don’t want a crappy raffle ticket for some cheap Lidl chocolate though!
deal to purchase the IM brand from Wanda was sealed yesterday
Well, I hope for their sake, that they’ve not taken on the (near 3/4 Billion US Dollars) debt that has hung around its neck for the last few years.
Race week was exactly a year ago; how time flies. I though they had already postponed Hamburg to 2021? 6th June is early for a northern European Ironman. No algae issues though
and on a different theme… if anyone needs or wants any accommodation in Copenhagen for Aug 13th to 19th 2020, I can transfer my (non refundable) booking to you for peanuts… nice room in a central hotel!
They’ll let me transfer, but won’t cancel and refund.
It popped up as a memory the other day I think. It certainly has flown by.
I think they tried to move it to September initially, as some people were encouraged to go from Frankfurt to it.
Still traumatised by that bike course. A 100 on a DC will be a doddle in comparison.
I suspect they haven’t taken on the whole debt but terms of the deal aren’t disclosed
@Memphisraines accommodation possibility?
Isn’t it next year that it’s needed?
Ha. My bad
Yeah, such a shame they couldn’t give the bike the same pazzazz as the run. Chalk & cheese.
To have a 186km bike on a course with 2 out & back turnarounds is a joke, to be frank.
Thanks anyway, giving consideration to one that chickenboy mentioned. I don’t think the one we have already booked can possibly be a good idea come 3am race day. Still, it’s not me who’ll be complaining about the noise!!
Nothing really new there. Also inaccurate about IMVR, for the qualifying spots the bike has to be done indoors on Rouvy on the fixed course, so Taren’s example of someone riding downhill isn’t exactly correct.
I do see a situation, similar to Mavic, where Ironman is deliberately bankrupted, the brand is then sold on, without any debt. All of us who have places deffered to 2021 may suddenly find that we have no places… but all speculation
or Go Outdoors that was then immediately bought back by Mike Ashley after being put into administration! A pretty common situation i believe, and always good news for PWC, Deloitte et al!
AKA a pre-pack
is that the term they use?
