Yeah. I think it was to do with the first IMUK and poor/non-existent lighting on some parts of the run course.
Either that or it was serving diet cola on the run.

Have deferred Lanza, lovely mission statement type thing from Active, maybe needs a bit of a re-think:

Yesterday’s news must be good for IM Wales?
Don’t think Wales have announced their road map yet … but yes, it looks like it should be all systems go barring any major catastrophes.
What about London mara in Oct. All seems to suggest that that will be fine to go ahead. Though with my ‘new normal’ head on, the thought of being in a place with however many thousand runners, up to a million spectators in a densely populated city makes me quiver even more than it did before (not a city fan).
Yeah Newport Mara is Oct and I can’t say I’m keen, no matter what the situation is.
Isn’t it Independence, followed by rejoining the EU; or is that just Plaid Cymru? ![]()
Think we’ve got to build the roads first before we bother mapping them!
Parkrun as well maybe
Joking aside, I only really saw the summary. Is Wales and Scotland and the same overall path?
No idea. I just saw an article about the political wrangles in Wales.
I’m not sure that Celtman was ever on the cards this year was it? that and the Cape Wrath Ultras are the only Scottish races I know of but I’m sure there are loads.
I hope so I’ve an entry for Celtman this year. It’s a small race but then it’s a remote place. I guess local sentiment will dictate go ahead.
I did Celtman in 2012, if any race can go ahead it must be this one. Fairly low numbers, stretched out immediately & self sufficient aid stations. Fingers crossed for you.
Got confirmation that 55 mile ultra in March has been cancelled earlier. Quite lucky for me with no training imminently.
Trying to get it rearranged for 21st August, so it will be light and probably quite warm.
Might have a chance of making it but need to check for clashes, also need to factor in the recovery as I’ve got other races after that I don’t want to miss.
They have offered transfer to 2022 or credit for one of their other races as well though.
Here’s an extract from an update from the BTF:
“Event permitting has been suspended until Sunday 28 March. Events are allowed to take place from Monday 29 March.”
the rest of the update basically mimics what HMGov are saying on dates but it’s now clear there will be no BTF permitted events before the end of March which blows out a few duathlons that were in the event calendar.
Note: this only applies to England, permitting for events in Scotland and Wales hasn’t been announced yet

Anyone else get lots of emails about races for the rest of the year all of a sudden
Our club do a training duathlon at the local cycle circuit, wondering if they might start up again in April
It will also be interesting to see if there’s any difference between draft-legal races or if they’ll be sanctioned.
as a club only event they could run it according the BTF Covid guidelines but without needing to permit.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens with draft legal events - they were banned last year after lockdown
Ok, the first one is a local Duathlon but their backup plan is to run it as non-drafting as I think it’s a qualifier. I think it would start as a kind of TT, it’s round an old airfield.
Their other draft legal one is July I think so a lot more time for that.
YEAH!!!
Time trials are back, baby!!!
