Momentous event cancellation and lack of refund

Some fell races are appearing as well

Erm, not that I can actually run of course!

Outlaw Half on May 16th off. New date to be announced, likely June, or other options if you can’t do it.

June might be a little close for me if IM Vitoria goes ahead, but then I doubt it will, so no idea what I will do.

Big Half also postponed to August. 3 weeks before Wales. Probably a bit close for an all out HM before an IM

You mean like Staffs and IMUK???
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just train through the half.
Back into the pool Monday AM, turbo spin and light gym Monday PM, back running by Tuesday :+1:t3:

I know. When I was planning out my 2020 season, I was looking at Staffs given a few of you were doing it. IMUK was originally the same day as IM Vitoria (not sure if that’s the case on the rearranged dates). My coach was fairly clear that a 70.3 that close to a full would be sub-optimal. Which does make it surprising the IM team in the UK structure their events that way.

That is a little insane! (well, if you want to do either of them “well” that is)

Yer maybe not a PB attempt but a good half IM paced training session 3 weeks out

True, but who wants to spent c£300 on a training day?! If I’m paying IM fees, I want to be able to race! I’ll do a race simulation by myself!

I’m doing a 200 mile ride in the week before IMUK, too.
Tapers and convention are overrated

I’m obvs going to crush @Adam and @chickenboy like the grapes they are at Staffs.
And then smash the first 130km of the bike at IMUK before slowly collapsing over the last 92km of the race :rofl::rofl:

I think @chickenboy jumped onto Weymouth?!

is doing a HIM at IM anyway reflective of anything as the bike to run transition must be hugely different unless you deliberately trash your legs the day before the HIM to give a similar fatigue level?

Just prep really.
Like how to race to a plan (yeah, right!)
How to tie your aero bottle on properly.
How to securely fasten your saddlebag
Don’t wear 4% on a wet field

Stuff like that

I pretty much agree. My last simulation for a full was:
Friday 40x100s
Saturday 6hr bike into 1hr run
Sunday 30min bike into 3hr run

So about the full distance, but spread.

Totally unrelated pace and fitness wise but it’s a good way to test kit and nutrition, do a long brick, swim to bike equally important. I certainly wouldn’t say its a must but as a catered brick makes sense.

Swim: finish together
Bike: you’re 10 minutes ahead
Run: I run you down like a cheetah hunting a gazelle (although I recall there’s a hill we just do, numerous times. Could be an issue for my Brewdog Belly)

The gazelle usually gets away…

Didn’t @adam run an unprepared 3hr wintery marathon a few weeks back?!

He ran a 3:41:17 at Outlaw in 2019.
I ran an underprepared 3:22:04.

Based on my current 5/10km times, I think I’d cry if I couldn’t run a sub 1:30 off the bike.

He’ll not get away.
