Momentous event cancellation and lack of refund

Looks like IM are being a bit more considerate with regards to deferrals etc… so have formally requested that my Copenhagen 2021 entry (deferred from 2020 after they cancelled the event) be deferred to 2022. Lets see how they respond!

I was chatting with my neighbour the other day about cycling and tri and it turns out that her friend is aiming to do IM Kazakhstan in August :open_mouth:

First off, I didn’t know there was an IM in Kazakhstan (very flat, apparently ) , and secondly, it seems like a pretty ballsy trip to be planning in covid times.

It’s been on a couple of years but started as a 70.3 I think  now has both distances.

I think everyone’s favourite Kazakh pro cyclist enters.

IM have accepted my deferral request, and i’m now registered for IM Copenhagen 2022…hoorah!

Wasn’t that the one they were listing as the main deferral option last year?

Oh bollocks. I submitted request after you mentioned yours…kinda hoping for voucher to do something less strenuous instead :joy:

By which I mean a half, not an IM branded massage!

Is it too early to tell my other half my current serenity isn’t going to last?

It feels like events are starting to come back. On my long ride yesterday I passed people heading to the tri at Dorney and there was some sort of a trail race going on around Windsor and Maidenhead that kept crossing my path.

Nah. They’ve sent the Army in.
Paddy McGuinness is whipping them up in the queue.
It’ll be reet.
Peter Kay will be out next.

The queues for vaccines today on NW Tonight looked good too.

Vitoria-Gastiez officially delayed to Sept 5th. That’s the week before Wales, so a no go.

Other options to defer to 2022, or take the credit voucher for events “in Spain”. Need to validate which one’s these will be, as I know previously that it’s not been them all (i.e. Lanza excluded etc).

Does mean that Outlaw Half is now full gas!

September is looking to be an over-crowded calendar for loads of events

I’m waiting to hear about Maastricht, 1st August though so they might wait a while longer.

Fair play to the team, they’ve already replied. Options are:
Barcelona
Barcelona 70.3
Mallorca
Mallorca 70.3
Marbella 70.3

And I could do Mallorca 2021 in October if I wanted…

Barca is in October too isn’t it?

May well have a higher chance getting to Mallorca though

Yes, but it’s sold out. And two weeks earlier.
Mallorca is still at tier 2 pricing. I’d actually still have money left over from a credit voucher for Vitoria if I chose that one. And 5 weeks after Wales is a bit better timing wise.

Not sure who I’m kidding that an overseas race this October is sensible, but …

A bit of autumn sunshine  :sunny:

Mallorca is Balearics, it’ll be fine :+1:t3:

And that’s Ironman Cork gone for 2021.
Local authorities having none of it, so they are.
