To be sure, to be sure
that’s the BTF confirming that ETU Austria MD and Romania Duathlons will not be sanctioned by the BTF due to the amber status. Individuals can travel and race but they will not be entered into the ETU championship category if they do take part. At least they are offering a rollover into the Spanish ETU event next year which is great for some but a big challenge like this year to qualify if the allocations are already taken.
Sounds like Parkrun have a few big names in the political world helping their cause and some ministers writing to local authorities urging them to give permissions to resume.
Hopefully enough will resume for it to be viable again without a couple of events being overrun. I think Middlesbrough council still haven’t agreed to the 2 local ones but hopefully they will soon.
the whole of midlands, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield isn’t far off good to go and could probably get away with limited tourism from further north/south
Pretty much anywhere else is miles off unless things drastically changes by tomorrow when the inevitable postponement comes…
A post I’ve seen from our local one suggested there is an announcement but it might be positive, but they said they haven’t got the green light yet but are getting closer.
Wonder if they’ll hold out a bit longer before a final decision.
Apparently a lot in London haven’t got the go ahead but Sadiq seems to be putting pressure on the areas to approve them
which ones that? Our locals are both National Trust and Forestry Commission so pretty sure these arn’t going
This was Albert park in Middlesbrough. Most of the 10 or so near me are probably all councils.
Announced this morning a delay to 26th June for parkruns return. Guess driven by lockdown easing on 21st makes venues more comfortable but whether that date gets hit is obviously unknown
Better than nowt! The weekend before IMUK though - I reckon I can recover from a 5km in time!
IMUK won’t go ahead until September so plenty of time
4th July.
Independence Day.
(Although if they do move it, I can beg for my Staffs place back for this year and get on some
More actual race practice, which Southport showed is massively lacking )
They’ve applied for permissions in September according to an “internet insider” so if true clearly making backup plans to the same month everything else is planning to run
There’s more.
WTF have you been smoking? You think southerners would visit that storied list of places for ‘tourism’?
parkrun “tourism” innit.
People driving ridiculous amounts of miles, killing the planet, just to say they’ve ran a few courses.
I don’t no, which is why it would have been fine. Most arnt brave enough to venture outside the M25
They’re Londoners, not southerners
Thing is, people seem to be getting their knickers in a knot.
I reckon all of the four pillars are being hit.
They’ve got this VoC under control (at the moment) so let’s unlock!
Only when the government is sure that it is safe to move from one step to the next will the final decision be made. The decision will be based on four tests:
- the vaccine deployment programme continues successfully
- evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths in those vaccinated
- infection rates do not risk a surge in hospitalisations which would put unsustainable pressure on the NHS
- our assessment of the risks is not fundamentally changed by new Variants of Concern
Good points, but they don’t cover the relative/potenital jitteriness of individual town councils, bodies etc.
So whillst the government may press on as planned, and we may be ticking those pillars off, a more local decison making body may still get the willies and pull it. See Parkrun.
