coming back from Greece as well?

Jesus, yeah, is this kid ever not on holiday

I just used Funksters OCT2020

Yeah looks like Greece is set for the chop. Will see if it’s just the mainland. Fingers crossed the islands escape it. Will be super annoying to miss it by one day

Are these the ultimate tri shoe.?

I’d seen these mentioned on the stryd facebook page. People were interested in them for the same reasons, but weren’t sure how you’d attach the stryd footpod

Seems like it’s all ok. They’ve actually relaxed the need to quarantine for some of the islands too. My gf’s sister and partner are due out to Rhodes next week I think … they were meant to be going to Turkey but when that got added, TUI swapped them

That is fantastic news.

We’re also in Rhodes. Weather has been amazing. I can now hopefully enjoy the last couple of days sipping my pina coladas enjoying the thought of not having the spend the next two weeks cooped up

Yep, all looks fine. The official list is updated, and Greece is still exempt from quarantine in general with some caveats for certain islands, and as you will see, some of the islands where you did need to quarantine are becoming exempt from Saturday. No new ones added.

Just bought a pair of Wildhorse 6’s for £59 in the sale and extra 20%

Borked on the Next%

That 20% code won’t work for me :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::man_shrugging:t4::sob:

The OCT2020 one? They must have you blocked or something.

I think it’s only on already discounted items though, not normal prices.

Yup. Using it on the ZFFKs and getting an error.
Also tried to get those lurid Wildhorses, but another error.

They don’t have the ZFFK’s in my size.

I presume you mean the green Wildhorses, that’s what I got, same colour scheme as my Peg T2’s, not very nice but they are cheap and soon get dirty.

Have you tried creating another account or does the Mrs have one?

I know that this is what you have all been waiting for: I have done some actual science to determine the relative difference in speed between 4 pairs of shoes.

  1. Nike Vaporfly Next%
  2. Nike Vaporfly 4%
  3. Nike Alphafly
  4. Nike Zoom Pagasus 36

Protocol
Treadmil, Zwift flat 400m running track
First I ran 7km at 4:30/km
Took 45min break for a meeting
Ran 2km at 5m/km warmup

For each pair of shoes
Ran 1km warmup @ 5m/km
Ran “recorded” 1km @5m/km
Repeated this for each shoe

I am interested in the cadence and the average heart rate for each pair of shoes. The lower the heart rate, the more efficient the shoe

So here are the results…

Row Labels Average of heart rate mins / km Cadence % Improvement
Nike Next % 138.3 5.002 170 4.2%
Nike Alpha 137.0 5.002 170 5.1%
Nike 4% 140.8 5.002 168 2.5%
Nike Zoom Pagasus 36 144.3 5.002 170 0.0%

The % Improvement is a baseline against the Nike Zoom Pegasus 36, which is a good normal shoe

The Nike Vaporfly 4% have well over 1000km, it was immediately apparent when running back to back on the treadmill against the newer shoes, just how compressed the forefoot is

I cannont explain why my cadence in the Vaporfly 4% was lower than the others

Even though my HR was higher with the Zoom Pegasus 36, they felt good to run in

The Alphafly felt significantly bouncier than any of the others

Vaporfly Next% is pretty much bang on Nikes claim of 4% improvement

Also spotted something really interesting: My HR was absolutely flat while in the Next% and Alphafly, however, in the VF4% (both in warmup and in recorded session) my HR is much more variable. In the Pegasus 36 it is even more variable. Potentially this consistency may be a key why the new shoes offer so much benefit on a long run

Nice work, but i guess you need to repeat the test at proposed race pace…and whilst fresh for each shoe, or in a mixed order over multiple test days…

That said, this could form a good test across the wider TT population…

now if we could only get some funding to buy me a pair of each of those shoes…

Nice.

I was contemplating doing the same on a 400m stretch of road near me.

Good comments and fully agree. I chose to do this at an easy pace as I didn’t want any HR drift to come into the equation. Also by doing it as a second run (also did an early am bike ride too) I had already built up a bit of fatigue.

I will try again at some point, probably running at 4:30/km this is normally around the top of my Z2, so probably getting into Z3 in the Zoom Pegasus
