Alphafly next 2 winging their way to me after the Sportshoes 15% discount code a £30 voucher I had as prize from a race earlier this year. Will need to shift my ASICS collection now

Be interesting to hear your opinion, I almost bought some when they first dropped, but could not turn down the Alpha1’s for only $200 (100 pounds).

I know one guy over here who has bought a pair, he reckons they are faster…

I visited the Nike store in Glasgow and had a good manhandle of them before ordering from Sportshoes. In the end I got them for 190 so we will see when they arrive tomorrow.

I had a run3d session today as my friend needed a test subject to get signed off on using the equipment. They featured on LCB’s vlog on her recovery as they provided the analysis during her rehab. A very thorough session that lasted almost 3 hours measuring gait etc, musculoskeletal tests and flexibility.
I took the asic meta sky and the Alphafly 2 in for the analysis to measure differences in the shoes and how they impact the gait and biomechanics.

Really eye opening results from the initial look at the data, I have to wait for the full write up which will include all of the remedial work to aid recovery and improve flexibility.

That is interesting!

So…. Which shoe is faster?

Will be interested to hear your feedback on the full report. I know I’ve got an issue with my left hip which also affects my cycling, not sure I’ve got the motivation to fix it though until the point of injury

After my crashes this year and previous years :weary:I have a stiffened pelvis and weak glute all on the left which is exaggerated by overworked hamstrings and quads that compensate. It was pointed out if I can sub 35 mins for 10km like this imagine what I could do if I was fixed……

For me it was the Nike, I run - well I thought I was a forefoot runner but the scans showed I was fore/mid foot. During the analysis we could see to get the most out of the meta you needed to almost be a heel striker to get the roll where as the Nike for me enabled me to keep on my toes. I have a high cadence but the head scratcher is that even with the bouncy shoes my vertical oscillation was lower than median. The peer group is made up of runners who had to be able to run a 10km in 36 min or below for the trials.
I will post up the results once they are in

Be really interested to read that!

I’m also a mid/forefoot striker, more to fore when I’m really shifting. I get on well with Nikes that I have now but was tempted to try another brand when my race shoes wear out (not for a while as I never race! :joy:).

Maybe I’ll just stick with Nike, or at least only try them if they have a no quibble return option as it’s too much money to risk otherwise.

I’ve still got the Next2s. Haven’t tried any Alpha’s yet, but I do have the next tempo, so I guess the A’s are a beefed up version of them?

The team who do the 3d scanning commented that comparing brands was an interesting concept. Up to now clients who are sponsored athletes would only bring along one brand of shoes so seeing real life differences in shoes that compete in the same space and how they can impact your biomechanics.

Hate you all!!

Had a little browse on the website. Air Zoom Tempo Nexts (my current favourite shoe) at 40% off. So i play around a bit more, boring black colourway is 50% off. Ahhh man. There’s no way i can resist that as my current ones, whilst still feeling absolutely fine, are on 850kms. Hmm, could do with not spending loads this month as i have 3 x big xmas purchases to make. I’ll just check Quidco. Another 6% off sale items. Well that’s that then!!

Ā£84 for those shoes i think, in the current shoe market, is a pretty flippin brilliant deal. Especially as i’m expecting to get at least 1,000kms out of them. They may have to go into the cupboard and be birthday present for me or something to lessen the blow. I’d have needed a new pair early next year anyway.

Ha ha ha :joy::joy:

My new wheels just arrived.
And my Wiggle order.

I’ve got three pairs of barely used >Ā£200 shoes.
I do not need this temptation in my life right now.

I banked some Tempos earlier in the year. Current ones are also on about 850 kms. So they can come out early next year. Tempted by another pair of shorts. I would have definitely got some 1/2 tight running shorts if there were any in my size.

i’ll get a pic later, but have yours broken on the sole as well? On the bit where the outer ā€˜bridges’ the gap over the air bubble thing. Does that make sense?

Hmm not sure, post a pic, I’ve got two pairs which are well worn now. One with a 1000km, the other 850km.

It’s only on one shoe, having just checked. But the other does look weak as well.

Mine have done that almost from day one on one shoe.
