who knows? cause and effect are very hard to determine. Certainly i should have eased into the mileage, but the carbon plate will still take the foot in a direction which the ankle, knee, hip or back may object to longer term…
In use by Starky at IMFL yesterday apparently:

Nike have given me a 20% discount code. Before my marathon I was tempted to buying some VF. However I’m now in two minds. I like to compare my PBs and see how my fitness is improving (or not!). Running in VF would add an extra calculation, for example: say I have a 10k race and my existing PB is 37:30 that would translate to ~36:00 in VF so I would be looking for sub 36. It also messes up training paces; do you train at VF PB pace or non-VF?
So my wife needs a new pair of runners. She’s had a couple of pairs of Hoka off Sportpursuit, but I think she fancies a change. I recommended the Pegasus; but cannot find any decent deals. Not paying £100 plus!
Has anyone seen a good deal on any recent Pegasus models (Wms UK5/38). Merci
GAMETIME22 for 22% off the Nike Store currently.
Have you had a look for the previous versions. They’re normally cheaper.
Runnerinn, sportshoes, wiggle, runners need, etc
Almost painful to watch!
Quite interesting, thanks for posting.
Same size as me, although I size up one in all running shoes I have ever come across (mad!
)
What @gingerbongo said: look for last year’s version. I have been doing that online for 10 years. Very faithful to ASICS. Although I went to a promotional event in the summer and bagged myself a current version of On Cloudflow for £75! Only used them on the treadmill so far; still not sure. But if Tim Don advertises them.
Unless/until the tech is in all shoes, I would say you’re better off not bothering then.
Hmm…PBs aren’t really comparable.
So many variables going into them.
Even on the same course on a different day.
My best 5km was trying (and doing!) to keep up with the Team GB female squad. That was on an evening of a normal training week, in the winter, dark and cold, and I’d already ran 7km there and was running home, too.
Best 10km had about 500m grass and 1km trail, but I was in fourth and hunted down third place.
I cycled 8km there.
My HM this year: there’s no way I’d have ran that time without having this guy next to me (from Derby, no less!) to chat to from 8km to 18km (he faded and then I felt super strong)
I always do better when there’s a race on.
Obviously training, taper, trainers etc come into it; but (to me) if you’re running in Next% or 4%, you’ve still ran the race - if you PB, that’s a new PB.
I don’t know if any time trial competitor who measures their PB by position, what wheels they had on, what frame they were using. It’s a bizarre frame of mind.
When out willy waving I would always and only quote the pb, ie the vf one.
But as I race the same couple of courses week in week out, I keep track of both so I know where I am at and then I throw in other excuses such as hangover etc as to why it was not a pb.
What is disappointing is there is a couple of guys I would easily beat without the VF’s on and now I cant get near them with! Much work to do.
Wait until you use them in the rain. They make a sound like you’re killing a mouse with each step. GB and Jorgan would probably approve. ![]()
so my rough back of a beer mat calculations re vaporfly next% are that when running at 6:30 min miling, for the same cadence and lower HR, i’m getting roughly 5cm more stride length compared to my regular boots. I geeked out on the maths and worked out that if i can sustain that kind of effort for the entirety of 26.2 miles, i’ll be 1318m further down the road than my regular shoe. No pressure to run well
I don’t blame the rodents; it’s these bleedin’ cats! I can see why she was up for rehoming now; the divorce/cost thing clearly BS!
You gain nearly a mile over a marathon???
Really, a marathon in Next% is only 25 miles???
you’re just a mile further up the road than in non next’s
5cm is pretty much spot on 4% for me
Yeah, stats whatevva. But are they getting you swoons from the ladies?
If they knew how much the trainers cost, they could very well deduce some impressive financial means (or a complete inability to manage limited financial means!!
)
