That’s a very good point about the outsole; the motion I make would definitely make that happen. Not felt the plate you talk of, will investigate further! I’m having a bit of a crisis of confidence in these shoes tbh; having not tried them ‘fresh’ and at faster paces.
Do we think that these will still be the business at IM run pace, like 4:5x-5:00/km?
Wondering same thing, consensus on here seems that only really come into their own sub 4/km pace, but then also most people are saying they feel benefit is in not fatiguing as much which is goal definition of IM run.
This year has been my first trial of Pegasus line for most my training, and far less blisters or injury niggles this year compared to New Balance Vazzee Pace. Considering trying the Pegasus Turbo for IM even if it is far less of a racey shoe, but might go for 30 day trial of the 4%.
Is there much of a difference between the zoom fly and the vaporfly 4%?
If you already owned the zoom fly would you buy the vaporfly?
I don’t own either so am throwing my hat into the ring with the vaporfly but if there isn’t much difference the zoom fly might be a longer term solution.
Well, the Zoom Fly is a lot more robust! A pair will last me best part of a year. The upper does wear through on the big toe but the midsole of my current pair still has some noticeable zing after ~8 months of use, and quite a lot of 20+km runs in them.
I’m eyeing-up the Flyknit version for my next ‘regular’ pair. under £100 on Nike site now.
Hmm.
I’ll be testing them in a tempo run (avg of about 4.20-4.30) and a long easy run (5.15-5.30) before stashing them away. I’ll report back how I find them at punter pace.
I have the zoom fly SP and the 4%. The zoom fly is like the distant relative of a Lord, that has the same name and some of the same genetics, but in reality doesn’t weild any power or influence.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re decent shoes, and I use them for some of my track work as a more robust faster shoe, but despite having similarities in “ride” the 4% feel totally different and way faster. (all my personal view of course)
Yep - I believe my initial comment on TT1.0 that started all of this was that they were like what I imagine using those kangaroo type stilts would be like, so a pretty similar description!
Apparently the ZF Flyknit are a good update from the versions I’ve had, now they have the React Foam & carbon plate (previously lunar foam & nylon plate). If I get them now, I can use them for my last few long training runs (my knees need it!).
