Itâs definitely a pursuit dominated by women of a certain age! All power to them as you say, I managed a swim in November last year, then I was away for a week and it rained, turned colder, and that was me out.

My 4th lake swim of the year this morning. Starting to acclimatise, but still swimming 200m head-up before being able to get my face in. Itâs still 12C in the water, and no warmer when you get out so you cool down quick.
There is a standard distance tri at the lake in 3 weeks, and the 113 is only 5 weeks away. Itâs going to have to warm up quick or there are going to be some cold cyclists at those events.

Sensible decision to abandon, shame but itâs a lot of travelling for 15 minutes swimming. Canât believe how long itâs taking for the temperature to come up this year.

First OW session of the season, I was helping not swimming. Thermometer said 16 but consensus was that it was less than that. Nice night though.

Emailed the local outdoor swimming place as could actually make the session on Wednesday morning to ask what current temp was floating around.
âBetween 7 and 10 degrees over the last weekâ.

Off to my first session shortly.
They claim itâs 16 degrees. Iâm calling bullsh1t on that before I get there.
Yesterdays sunshine has hopefully made it bearable tho.

It was actually ok.
Went in with gloves and had to get out to get rid halfway.

First dip of '23 for me today 
. Went through thunder & lightning to get to my swim spot, but loved, loved, loved it once in.
Fully aware I post this each year but it never fails to amuse me just how much like a penis that body of water looks

Just read your strava description, I wonder if thereâs any swim gains to be made from wearing old thick wetsuits? My new one feels amazing, no shoulder ache at all!
Is this the swimming equivalent of using wider tyres 
.
Iâm never very quick in OW swims but this wetsuit is about 14yrs old, been patched dozens of times & probably the same thickness all over. I do have a snazzier one with skinny, lycra type arms which should ve quicker, but itâs far too nippy for that just now.
