Open water swim season starting

Aldi also do a version that my friends all use. Obviously only available when they do that theme in the middle aisle.

We obviously swim in very different places! I like my Zone3 version, but find a very small window for use after actually swimming. In the summer itā€™s too hot, in the depths of winter I am not OW swimming, so it only gets used in spring and autumn. The most it got used was on an autumn camping trip last year when evening temperatures dropped quickly.

When I was a regular at L32 I didnā€™t even own one. I think here itā€™s not even the lower water temperature that chills, itā€™s more the low-ish air temps combined with an almost constant wind. Post swim I find my temperature drops really quickly.

Yeah itā€™s the standing around in the wind post swim thatā€™s made me buy one. Iā€™m going to a lake on Friday that has a sauna on site as well.

Iā€™ve just spotted a bloke getting out of the river at Whitby without a wetsuit on :flushed::cold_face:

Air temperature is about 3c, water canā€™t be much warmer!

He needs locking up :joy:

Just no. Although I guess the sharks etc are probably too cold to bite?

We went for a swim today at Sealine, 50km south of Doha. Water was 20.2C, quite swimmable. However we were the only swimmers, and I couldnā€™t get more than about 10m out without picturing an orca swimming off with my liver.

So we came back and swam in the pool.

Definitely the orcas you need to be thinking about

Easter Sunday ā€œswimā€. 15 minutes in the water, head down for about 1 of those. 9degC apparently, hopefully it will make 14 or 15 feel toastie.

Lake swarming with ladies in just swimming costume and funny hats. Easter bonnets over the top of their woolly bobble hats.

Junior #3 swam at Bridlington today, says it was 6C. Rather him than me.

Water here is currently 22.1C, we had a dip this afternoon but it was a touch chilly for bobbing around at Mrs FT breast stroke pace. Probably would have been ideal for a proper swim session though. Sea and land warm up quickly in April, it should hit 26 by the end of the month, and frankly bring it on :+1:

Theres also this handy rule of thumb:

Seven and twenty? Budgieā€™s are plenty.

Nineteen or less? Neopreneā€™s best.

Colder than twelve? Put up some shelves.
