I think it’s only ever been used for results messages. My phone has messages going back to 2015 but I think it’s been around for long before that.
I’ve just seen it mentioned, I never registered it so no loss and I’m guessing it isn’t free (to them)
The result appears in the app just as quickly and I guess it could do a notification.
Yes, I know the likes of poet has a Nokia 3210 and doesn’t have the app but you can’t keep supporting luddites ![]()
LO had two hard races this week and a late Spanish lesson last night ( don’t ask
)
So I went to Parkrun on my own. Back wasn’t right getting out of the car though, warmed up sporadically but binned it off. Bah humbug ![]()
I stayed local as I CBA to get up
also wasn’t sure about my knee. Expected it to be fairly quiet as a lot of people are heading to London for the day but it was actually busier than usual
including a tourist from Lebanon!
Started fairly steady to see how my knee and ankle were, it was actually quite soft on top with a few puddles from rain during the week.
Started to pick it up from halfway but the last k was hard work, still getting over the donation.
Finished in 23:06 apparently.
Ankle survived, knee settled but need to see how it feels later.
My last couple of Parkruns have been in Scotland so this morning I forgot that my local one starts at 09:00, not 09:30 & got there too late to gun it past the tail-end charlie’s.
Decided to do an enjoyable, long, if slightly under-fuelled 2hr run.
I thought the 9:30 start was only in winter ![]()
Although technically it’s winter up there for about 51 weeks ![]()

It was our local events 12th anniversary so I ran round with a GoPro and will create a little video in the next day or two. I’ve done a video there each year from the very start other than during covid when it was cancelled and in 2019 when I was taking part in a rather long catered days training/racing in Lanzarote.
I got Mr to do his first parkrun today! South Boulder creek. 1600m altitude and a coyote warning at the race briefing. About a dozen Brits running it today but it was a pleasant one.
My first since January (dog life has taken over) so it is not a stellar time.
Fair play…

Darren is a good lad and I’m so pleased that he’s still going strong - especially through all sorts of difficulties that he’s faced over the last 22 years. When we used to run at Bushy parkrun we’d normally warm up with Darren for a km before the run each week and have a good chat about all sorts of nonsense.
This is from when he came to our local run in July 2024.
Visited Potternewton in Leeds today as I’m doing a 25 later near Wetherby.
Small event and quite undulating but a nice little park.
Tried hard not to batter myself before this afternoon but it still felt tough.
Got round in 23:20.
Closing in on 100 venues.
Jogged around with Mrs FP at Burnham in 30.08
LO ran a 25.00 dead. It seemed like good conditions but overall a slow day for a few.
28:16 for me at our local park run.
Got up super early to drive to Morden in Surrey to help celebrate the 1000th parkrun. Being used to a pancake flat tarmac course at my local the 85% grass course and none of it flat was hard going. Got round in 20:28. Very happy with that.
I did Bushy for the first time to help celebrate a friend’s 250th - I just seem to keep getting slower. My worst ever solo Parkrun and now 13 minutes off my PB!
I did the new (9th event) parkrun at Harpenden. Got there super early and did 90 minutes in the Everyone Active gym next to the park. Was a hot one today, had a bit of a wheeze and therefore a partial walk and a slow time. My Wilson Index is now my floating Wilson Index (13). Gym was also handy for a shower before the drive home.

That’s wild!
Thanks for the link
I’ll have a gander later
