Some drag the kids around 2 steps in front, barking go go go :joy:

18:28 at my local parkrun today. Feeling pretty tired and pacing showed with 2 to 5 seconds slower each km :see_no_evil:

Jonny Brownlee was training on the Whitby parkrun track this morning! Doesn’t look like he’s done the actual run though as he’s not in the results

Had probably finished and gone to the magpie for fish and chips :joy:

Anyway, more tourism for me today at Darlington which is still fairly local. Didn’t particularly feel like I was hammering it and managed 20:39 which was alright. HR spiked quite high and didn’t feel like that so I’m guessing either strap related or something.

Would be good if I could hold that pace for a HM.

He went to Trenchers. The locals choice :+1:t3:

Hmm, is dirty Leeds local

More like a tourist :joy:

Good luck, I reckon you could be first finisher. Of course don’t cross the line yourself, that’s pretty much the only rule.

My youngest who’s 3.5 did his first one last week unofficially, in around 18 minutes. Much better than his elder brother who took 6 attempts before getting under 20 minutes and spent a lot of time keeping the tail walkers company.

You want to hear moaning ā€˜run’ with my nearly 6 year old. Christ sake he goes on. Little bugger insists on going back for more though

Loads of anxiety chest pain the last few days, wasn’t really going to go for it today at parkrun but I was feeling perky at the start, and coming to the base of the hill at 2km I was still feeling fine and about 5s up on PB pace (so 17xx) and in a little group (one guy off ahead in 16 minute pace) but the hill the pain in the chest shot up, put me off a bit, but I really wasn’t feeling as good as the PB week, lost my way a bit to finish with an 18:28 - didn’t even manage to be first old fogey home.

@BadAsh claimed a 20:11, but the only time I saw him, he was just running down the first leg as I was 5km into my cooldown 10km.

24:12 for me this morning.
Got about 500m up the road and wheezingLF.
No inhaler. Should’ve gone home and back to bed :joy:

Feel grim again.
2hr MTB this afternoon too :face_with_peeking_eye:
Hopefully it keeps raining and I can sack it off.

Extremely muddy and slippy 24.55 with LO this morning. Have a ton of yardwork to do now, uggh

More tourism for me at Northallerton, like poet I should have stayed in bed. Just not feeling it atm, started coughing last night. Whatever I had last week seems to be lingering :rage:

HR was higher than RPE and pace, although overnight HR was normal :man_shrugging:t2:

Anyway, steady 22:25ish I think

4 weeks to Dirty Reiver, have you made a decision yet?

Hmm, just found out there’s a parkrun barely 3K from my front door. Problem is that unless you are mates with someone like Mungo you aren’t likely to get chance to run!

Only onto event 30 and started last year.

Still waiting for a replacement for the Stockton (Tees Barrage) parkrun that didn’t restart after 2020. Sounded like something was getting considered last year but it’s all gone quiet again.

Edit: to add I did actually play football there a couple of times against the inmates and screws when I was a lot younger!

Why don’t you start one?

Haha, as above I do know someone who works for the council in some kind of sports development role and they did advertise for a team last year. Kind of strange that they couldn’t get the team for the previous one, or maybe they have managed to persuade a few to return.

I’m far to disorganised for anything like that but do try and volunteer on a 1 in 10 ratio.

Everyone was quite cagey about why it never restarted, but it required permission off at least 3 different bodies, I doubt the council objected and I gather the canal and waterways were onboard. My guess is the nimby’s that bought the new flats that were built alongside the route despite the parkrun having been running for several years before they were built.

Next Parkrun for LO will be her 50th senior. Likely to be at Burnham.

I get the impression parkrun HQ are quite particular these days. Swindon had a second event start in the last few years (think they just had event 106) and I believe they needed to consider socially deprived areas and public transport.

Also, I seem to recall that when people donated a % used to go to the new event fund, that no longer happens and the new teams are expected to fund it.

I could be very wrong on all this…
