The issue about wearing the track out. That’s a lot of traffic on a track weekly.
Ah. Right.
The track is knackered and needs resurfacing anyways.
They’ve been fundraising for it for years ![]()

The B course doesn’t use the track and is about 40s slower for me ![]()

Two of the top 40 are my usual courses, Hartlepool and Albert. Both have had sub 15’s, obvs that’s as much down to the athletes.
For a long time people would travel a reasonable distance in the NE & Yorkshire to do Albert for a PB
I’m in London in April and I’ve looked at potential parkruns. Closest would be Fulham Palace or Highbury Fields. Victoria Docks just too far to get to. Suprised it’s top of the list after learning it has 3 dead turns, perhaps it just has a lot of fast people turn up. My local is rated at 5.0 ![]()
Never realised I could combine Comic Con and the fastest Parkrun but I’m there on Easter Saturday
My parents live in Brighton, so my plan is to try either Hove Prom (SSS 1.4) or Worthing (1.3). Looks like Worthing is ranked the same as Stretford. Only problem is being on the sea front, the week I’m there I bet it’ll be bloody windy.
Quickest one locally (within an hour of Swindon) would be Severn Bridge (1.4) I believe.
Or you could make the pilgrimage to Bushy if you haven’t already and possibly meet the peacock **
** that would either mean a late start and running through the field or post race meet-up ![]()

Wheezy too if he pulls his finger out
I can confirm Severn Bridge is quick - assuming a low wind day! Single out and back on paved surface ideal for your cheat shoes. Turn is just over the high point of the bridge, so most of the 2nd half is a gentle down hill. Usually some fast boys at the front too.
Need some caution using fast times to judge fast courses. Sometimes the times correlate with a nearby university that has their track team skewing the average times.
Haha, on Saturday at the one I went to a lad from Durham Uni turned up and decided to go with a rather fast looking young lad (I actually thought he was about 30, but was only 18
)
Anyway, after about 200m the uni lad basically gave up, citing a hangover and waited for his GF to jog round.
Other lad broke the course record in 16:08, which would probably equate to a short 15 elsewhere ![]()
We’re staying near Paddington so a bit far to get across in time, otherwise Parkrun Smackdown would have been fun!
Long Eaton = Luffbra, as an example.
Or at least alumni, who tend to live locally (or at least that was my experience pre-parkrun days at local 5-10km races)
Probably a bit over an hour but Burnham is pretty quick.
Good Morning ![]()
Junior Parkrun - can you run with your progeny?
TIA
Yes!
You’re just not allowed down the finish chute
But either please start at the back, or join them after the first few hundred m’s! Adults whilst everyone is sprinting off get in the way
Shitting it down with rain and I’m dragging my feet to see if it eases off.
I’ll finish my cuppa and see if I can uber late start and catch the tail walkers
I’m coughingLF again, so bummed it off and just sat spinning on Zwift.
Fuck it, back in bed. Kids have got a play date at ten, I’ll slink off then
