Parkrun

If I was doing that though, I probably wouldn’t choose Bushy! Kingston or Richmond Park would be quieter and more interesting than just doing laps!

See I quite liked the laps element of the run as I found it a bit of a mental challenge to keep going round for one more (so a bit like iM race day)

Fair enough. :+1:t3:

Decided to have a bash at the fast parkrun today, was expecting it to hurt and it didn’t disappoint

Excited first K as usual  but got me a bit of time banked. I clocked 19:51 which was about the best I could have hoped for after the recent training and viruses so fairly pleased. 22 seconds down from early March.

Glorious morning though, no wind and the sun came out as we started.

Probably feel that for the rest of the day though :joy:

Edit: crikey, some lady was second overall in 16:47! That’s the joint third fastest time on that course and not far off the CR. Her age grade was 90% :flushed:

Apparently I ran a course PB today, although they have moved the start and finish so often I’m not sure I’ve ever run the same course there twice. No strava PBs through any of the segments.

But a quick day, fast boys out at the front, I was trailed off from the start, but pulled back 2 stragglers over lap 2 and lap 3 which helped keep the pace honest. Course was dry for the first time this year, which seems to have contributed to a lot of PBs through the field and first time over 80% age grading for a while for me.

Nice :muscle:

What time did you do? Tried to work it out from your Strava but you appear to have cunningly disguised it like the Da Vinci code.

  • buried in the middle of a 15km run
  • mile splits?
  • but kmh pace graph

Those are mile splits, 5:59, 5:54, 5:51, +39s to finish.
18:23 official time.

There’s a few 5k and 10k races that use that course already, so it’s a proven route. Obviously they would need to find a different course or time slot if ParkRun takes this slot every week.

Central London is a bit of a ParkRun desert at the moment. I’ve never done one because there hasn’t been one within 30 minutes of my house.

Up in Glasgow at the weekend so might do Ruchill Parkrun as it is only a couple of miles from where i am staying.

Then again i might stay in bed

Looks like a slow course so would suit me better

New course record set at the local parkrun today, 15:07, the old one stood since January 2012 and I believe was dog assisted (before they recorded that).

I just finished the 5 minutes back, but helped pace a chap to his first sub-20 in over 400 runs.

Nice, we decided to forgo parkrun to pack and get away to Mum’s before traffic and heat in a car with no a/c. Still didn’t leave until 10.00 :man_facepalming:

The young triathlete we talked about last week, asked the guy what he was going for, he just said “sub 16 hopefully”, I told him to stay with him as long as he could - fortunately he didn’t take the advice, but still set a PB.

18:57 for me, the guy behind me in an outlaw shirt from this year was all happy 'cos he got his first sub 19minute parkrun… The timers gave him a 19:00! (although with a 5:15 half as a young male, you’d’ve thought 19min parkrun was pretty easy?)

5:15 is pretty slow for that course :woman_shrugging:t4:
So maybe 19 is hard.

In trail shoes as well and it’s a tarmac/gravel course, so could have done with her road pair but we only brought the trail.
