Did a brutal 45k pace line ride with @Adam mate Rob and 2 other strong riders, then Parkrun as a BRICK very happy with 21:30
Rob had just got an SL8 and was determined to exploit its full potential, we made sure he did double turns (which may also be due to the fact that the elastic was about to snap for most of the ride)
Yes, saw your rides on the Strava feed this morning and those segment cups too! Very nice, nice to see heās inflicting pain on you guys too.
Back to Bushy for me today. Foot now feels fine post Tenby and I got round with a mid 20 cartai ly better than my hungover effort in Bala a few weeks ago.
Going to make an effort to get back getting to these weekly now
Ran into work to pick up my car last night 12km - felt good
Run the hills this morning with my daughter doing her first long (ish) run in 2 years and a bit this morning - 12km done. She has lost a lot of fitness but proud of her that she stuck with it and didnāt take any of the offered bail out routes.
Mrs T away in Palma with her mates.
Daughter now gone to her boyfriends so itās just me and the dogs.
Maverick - tick
Final score - tick
Got a pizza in the oven and about to crack open a beer from the fridge.
We all went this morning but LO was coughing during warm up and said her throat hurt, so they say it out.
I went round on my own on 22.37 which considering Iāve only ran twice in 2wks, was quite happy.
Ribs were ok
I think I may have scraped a sub 20. A mate came up at around 500 or so metres and chatted all things tri going around. Dropped me like a stone with about 300 metres to go.
Lovely morning for it here, big crowd too, must have been 1400 or so
Had a vague plan to try and get some run speed back this summer, after lots of long slow stuff through spring. Hasnāt really worked out as the long slow stuff mostly continued, with just parkrun as any kind of faster run.
It turns out the easiest way to get faster at parkrun, is to find a faster parkrun, so I managed to justify a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon - I had something else to do vaguely in that direction. Itās a flat 3 lap course, mostly on tarmac paths, and on a calm September morning there is no wind. Also a fair smattering of faster runners, although we somehow managed to run at 10m gaps to each other rather than as a group. Probably for the best as the course gets crowded on lap 3.
As is usual these days I get swamped at the start by flying juniors and the overkeen. But once I made my way back passed the fast starters I just concentrated on making sure the 10m gap to the person infront didnāt get any bigger. At the end of lap 1 I knew the pace was quick, just had to keep this up. Lap 2 slowed a little, but still good enough. Lap 3 a little tricky to navigate lapping runners and still keeping pace with the guys ahead, but I had enough in hand.
Sub-18 again, first time under that barrier for 4 years. 84% age grade, highest itās ever been. Now just need to find a downhill course for the next one.
Back to glorious Yorkshire for me today and Fountains Abbey parkrun which is probably one of the nicest there is, nearly all tourists as itās a bit rural, albeit very close to what is Englandās second smallest city, Ripon.
All on hard paths but a few little climbs. Pushed fairly hard with a suicidal first K! Last K was horrific as my recent exploits and lack of hard running caught up with me but Iāll take 20:46
Cracking time that, Buzz. I found earlier this year that hard parkrun each week and Zwift got me into reasonable shape.
