Parkrun

I always thought that kids shouldn’t train for such long races. Clearly a talent.

parkrun is not a race. It’s a timed event

“Eff dat”, says local 9 year old.
I’ve got my army of pacers surrounding me, I’m taking the win :joy::joy::joy:

Continuing my tourism with a trip to South Shields today, nice little course with some of it on the English coastal path. Finish is pretty much the last mile of the great north run.

Chilly north westerly which was in your face in the last 2K. Gone from boiling hot in a T-shirt on Monday to digging gloves out today

Struggled a bit but finished in 22:02, if I’d watched the garmin I’d have made an effort for those 3 seconds

Crewe park run ! ( the return)
Well my calf didn’t explode but I was freezing at the start!
Took the first lap steady, then hit it for laps 2 and 3.
Faster running now ( that hyrox stuff really f”s you up!) got me 21:40 on my watch.
8 th position which surprised me but only 3rd 50-55

Winner was 55-60. ! Well done him.

Enjoyed it

Total struggle for me today, went to the local fast course as a lot of others weren’t on. Wind wasn’t terrible but it was damp and cold, and I wimped it by leaving my waterproof jacket on

Well down on others I’m normally around and came home in 21:30, that sub 20 is looking a long way off :joy:

Rocked up at Burnham. LO said she wanted to go for a PB (uggh :man_facepalming: ) and her previous was 23.46.

We stuck with the 24 pacer until 2km to go, then took it up a notch. She was definitely hurting but still sprinted away from me at then for a 23.16 , I came in 11 secs later.

Forgot to add. 75.43% grading

So proud :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Takeaway tonight

Superb effort from the LO

I loved it when my son could beat me

Then had to up the distance to 10k - wasn’t long before that mark fell

Half marathon - nope that went as well

He beat my marathon pb on his first go

2021 he beat me at 100k

Still the reigning champ at 100 miles though

It’s only a matter of (not much) time now. I can sprint with her at the end but I don’t because I seem to break easily these days!

Nice work LO. My son had me over 100m when he was 13
400m by 14
800m & 1500m probably aged 15.

Think I still hold the bragging rights for distances 5km, 10km, 21.1 and 42.2km, but only because he discovered “other teenage interests”’ before he discovered the joys of pounding the roads day in day out.

He has however stolen the long distance crown with 2 separate 100km efforts. He’s welcome to those, won’t be going after them any time soon.

They have reopened my local park run !
Today was the third “ event”
I drove there in 4 mins so very handy.

This course is avoided by the local “ runners “ it seems as it’s quite slow, and after rain very very muddy.
Pretty flat mostly tarmac packed gravel.

Quite a strange run today, plan was 25 mins at a low hr, I’ve done 10.5 hours this week and lots of heavy squats/ sled/ leg work.

Started quite far back and steady to 1.5 k were I thought duck it and increased my pace.
No idea was why.
Left ankle sore on the tarmac bits, finished knackered and surprised with 22:50 as it felt slower in the mud.

35/317
1st 50-55
66? % bizarre park run thingy.

Great fun!

Just based on some of the noises she was making today  Plus, it was pretty much perfect running conditions this morning.
