Parkrun

Hmm, seems like a few people from a local running group and our club managed to get into a closed parkrun today at the former borstal nearby, now known as the Grange parkrun.

Also noticed I’m on 48 different venues, going to be travelling in a fortnight so might be doing Harrogate, need to find somewhere for #50.

Ran 5km to parkrun with full kit, then we had a family jog around in 27.26.

Annoying achillies and hip niggle :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Im currently on 22 locations. Getting to the point where I only have a few more courses that are low hanging fruit. Wimbledon and possibly Osterley Park. After that I’m either into the depths of outer London or driving for 30 minutes plus. All the courses I’ve ticked off recently have been around a 20 minute drive.

Got beaten by a girl who runs in U13 cross country, I could’ve beaten her in the sprint, honestly… should I have?

It was a bit weird, 'cos her dad (presumably) came gasping in 5 seconds behind us, but I’d basically been running with her for the entire last km and hadn’t seen him, and if anything she was slowing a bit up the final hill, so I’m surprised he hadn’t stayed with her earlier in the run.

Groundhog day for me.

Will be running next week though with a bit of tourism, possibly Harrogate or Wetherby.

Did Wimbledon today. Utter bog, must be miserable after a heavy downpour.

Trotted around again with a low 21. Feeling comfortable now.

Knee pain flared up on Thursday for no good reason so just went down to my local (Bognor) and watched (and cheered MrsF). Hopefully back next week.

Back on the tourist trail today at Wetherby, which was 3 laps round a sports centre field. If anyone ever did Wetherby triathlon it was where that was based.

Pretty heavy underfoot and slippery.

Only gave blood at 7pm last night so took it easy, and had a flying start after a toilet break :joy:

Anyway 25:15’ish

Had a lie-in today so went to Bushy. Arrived just as the horde was setting off so made for a good progressional run.

Maybe scraped a sub 21 finished a few spots behind Nell McAndrew, not seen her for a while.

Run number 92!

Muddy trails out to a muddy trail run and back again.

Mrs handed me a bucked of water out the door to wash down before I was allowed inside.

Easy 5km jog to parkrun then practically walked around in 26.45 but was nice to get the legs moving.

Bit different starting at the back there compared to Wetherby :joy: I only had to run through about 70 people :joy:

Location 49 for me.

Eldest, aged 6, did his first one today, just dipping under 40 mins.

He’s done loads of the junior ones, but can still be a bit temperamental about it, last one done a few weeks ago when it was really wet had him wanting to quit after about 200m having got his feet wet in all the puddles, which he’d enthusiastically stormed through at the start.

I’m under doctor’s (well, sports therapist’s) order not to run for 4 weeks so walked it in just under 44mins (got lapped twice by Jim). Was prepared to abandon half way (it’s 2 laps) if he pulled out, which I was fully expecting him to, so really chuffed he stuck it out.

Fantastic effort from your LO mate. Cake afterwards ?

He went for a chorizo (sausage) roll, which again I was slightly dubious about, but he scoffed it down :grinning:

I’m pretty sure I only lapped you once… The other time I was running the wrong way… You also didn’t mention the fact it was the slowest possible weather conditions.

And 'cos of those conditions I went very hard after the first couple of hundred m’s to catch a group of 3 to shelter behind them for the first 1km. Which meant I got to 2km on pace for about ~18:30. Then carried on around for a 19:50 finish, still at least running 2km at a proper speed is good training.
