Parkrun

Salisbury also cancelled, Moors Valley may be an option from Winchester - It’s a lovely course

Thanks chaps. I’ll give parkrun a miss tomorrow and head out to St Cathy’s Hill and the downs. Need to cover about 35km fully loaded. (that coffee van had better be about  )

Expecting big new year turnout today, apparently parkrun had their second biggest ever hour of registrations last night!

Can’t think why :thinking::joy:

Did my NENDY which was Bedfont Lakes.

Really bloody enjoyed that, it’s a great course. Completely waterlogged today with large puddles galore but that added to the fun.

Guy who won disappeared off into the distance from the off but I found myself just off the back of the next group back. Slowly reeled a few in on lap two then moved into 4th with two corners to go. Not feeling guilty at all about out sprinting a junior on the final corner into an uphill finish to poach the final podium step from him. Annoyingly 2nd was only a few seconds up the road too.

Tiny margin of fitness maybe starting to creep back!

So many cancelled around here today. It meant Wazza was super busy. Course still icy too so surprising they went ahead.

I wimped the trail race, couldn’t be bothered and nervous about the leg knowing the course. Also had a fairly poor sleep again :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

So came to do the local run, it was a bit boggy but considering the recent rain drier than I expected.

Planned a steady second run afterwards so started fairly steady then picked it up with about 1.5k to go and made up about 6 places. Last K was about 4:05 but is slightly downhill.

22:05 overall so clearly the steady start was faster than I thought  but I cocked the Garmin up and managed to stop it just after the start and only noticed on the way back :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Then did a steady 10k up the track.

Leg feels a bit tender so in hindsight I think skipping the race was probably a good idea, another 9k across boggy fields wouldn’t have ended well.

This was my local Parkrun course this morning. Can’t imagine why they canned it!

Our course was the dryest it’s been for a long time, but then running through puddles is the norm in winter anyway.

I’m still pretty ill, and that gave me a 20:34, although I almost ran over some poor runner I was sprinting around so as not to slow up someone who was about to overtake me in the last ~400m who suddenly jumped left to where I was to get to a jacket or something that had been left. Mrs @BadAsh nearly had to stop to clean up a messy collision.

Waterlogged?

I’ve been to Nonsuch park this morning.

Much bigger event than I anticipated but a really fun course. The start was ridiculously congested though and spent much of the first km trying to push on through gaps.

They also had a chap calling out your time as you completed the first lap. Never seen that anywhere before.

Nearly in the 90s now, that was run 89

Run 49 (or 50? I’ll have to check) for me

Nice and easy 5:12/km for 9km total.

Keswick for me, another letter so only U & I to go

Nice course on a nice day, no wind and warmer than expected. Lovely smooth tarmac with a bit of a drag outbound and one bump, but makes the return easier.

Decided to push it a bit and see how unfit I am, answer wasn’t good  20:19

But I could feel the leg towards the end tightening up so after tomorrow I’m probably going to have a couple of weeks off running.

Bognor for me (my local) and part of the course we go through a gate and along a footpath. However, someone had superglued the padlock! A slight course adjustment (it’s a four lap course) and we set off just after 9:20am. It’s a bit longer than 5k (I think that’s a “rule” for temporary courses - ensure they’re longer so that there’s no fake PBs) and I came in just under 25 mins.

I was three minutes quicker last week but not pushing anywhere near as hard today. I’d like to say I’m slowly coming back from a knee injury that’s been here since April but it’s not really much better - I’m just trying to do a bit more and deal with it. I’m just happy to run once or twice a week.

Think I’m on 91

Our local course had to change the start a year or so ago and said the same as that wasn’t officially measured.

Next stop on the tourism tour was Brooklands Parkrun today.

Quirky two lap course, run on an old airfield with part of it converted into a go kart track which today was very icy. Also has about a km of trail thrown in.

Flight attendant themed newbie chat and bonus replica model of a Concorde too

Scraped a low 21 but my right calf was giving me some minor grief after 2km so eased off and amazingly I was overdressed despite the Baltic conditions

:+1:t2:

Marshalling duties for me today so I can have my running break.

Luckily it’s warmed up a bit and just about stayed dry.

Hmm, seems like a few people from a local running group and our club managed to get into a closed parkrun today at the former borstal nearby, now known as the Grange parkrun.

Also noticed I’m on 48 different venues, going to be travelling in a fortnight so might be doing Harrogate, need to find somewhere for #50.

Ran 5km to parkrun with full kit, then we had a family jog around in 27.26.

Annoying achillies and hip niggle :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Im currently on 22 locations. Getting to the point where I only have a few more courses that are low hanging fruit. Wimbledon and possibly Osterley Park. After that I’m either into the depths of outer London or driving for 30 minutes plus. All the courses I’ve ticked off recently have been around a 20 minute drive.
