Ran around with LO. Mrs FP has a cough and sore throat.
23.44 for me and a bit quicker for LO
Had a slight dilemma today as I’d ended up with a tourist streak of 4 due to the cancellation of our local event on 4th May and then doing 2 events Copenhagen, so just needed to do one more event which wasn’t my local one to earn the “badge” in the 5K app. Then got reminded midweek that my club had chosen the local parkrun this week as part of their champs series.
Given I’m not in top form I opted with the tourism, to my next closest event, so had a 6.5km jog there. As always delayed setting off so had to run it a bit quicker than I’d like, having had no food or drink. Bit of a hot sweaty mess by the time I got there.
It was the first event back on the A route, which is mostly grass, for many months. My road shoes were squeaking all the way. Felt really sluggish at the start, but managed a 4:16 km and then very slightly increased pace every km.
Knew I had to jog back so didn’t go all out, but didn’t leave much in the tank for a 20:41. Jog home was very leisurely and not much fun. It’s been a while since I’ve done 18km (quick check on Stava; I did 16km early December).
It was won in a time you could do though… and the vets for sure! You missed out.
Local parkrun for me today with the intention of putting some effort in but the legs were sluggish!
Some guy pushing a buggy went past with about 100m to go and I was just behind him and he then stopped dead the minute he hit the line and I nearly went into the back of him!
I stopped my watch at 20:00! But the timekeeper might have been different because of that I’ll take it though. Unlike poet it didn’t even get me in the top 20!
But I went past someone I know on the way there who did it but commuted on one of these but with a tiny rear disc wheel
Bit of a story to today’s run. Mrs FP has an older friend that she met through some charity work. Her husband was doing his 50th run and their daughter is training for IM Copenhagen.
The daughter’s partner is a 16.xx kind of guy and he wanted to run with LO. So today she had someone that actually knows what they are doing
I joined them but my hip pain and the jarring was killing my elbow where I took all the skin off. I backed off from them with 2km to go.
I had a 24.30 but the LO’s new buddy got her around in 23.25, which is a course PB for her.
Away camping, woke up with a decent size hangover and checked my phone to find the nearest parkrun.
Would have been rude not to. Tried an effort and got 10th.
Easy jog down to my local (Bognor Regis) parkrun this morning as it’s about a mile away. When I arrived I stopped my garmin and it told me I needed a 9 hour recovery
32 minutes for mine due to the walking back. The lad I was running with finished fourth, I was probably holding him up
We were planning to try Cheddar for the first time but I had a crippling migraine overnight and have only just got up
Nick Bester is a local now, moved to Winchester. This must’ve been a week Saturday ago because Winch didn’t happen on Saturday (Cheese and Chilli Festival )
18:48 for me today, my fastest since March 2021
Timekeeper duties today, and the other lad managed to stop his watch after 5 minutes so it was mostly on me but was only 110 finishers.
Hoping to tick Holland off next week with some kind of run/walk strategy!
My first run since Saturday’s ultra. Went around with LO and she sprinted ahead for a 23.25 and 5th female overall and her 85th parkrun.
I shuffled in for a 23.42.
Having done an easy 22:09 last week (though in all honestly it didn’t feel all that easy) and with no plans to run fast this week I decided to try and get the Groundhog Day badge (getting the same time at the same course in 2 consecutive runs). Stuck with the 22 minute pacer, who’d probaby banked around 10 seconds by the end, so I was rather ahead of schedule. Lapped the wife with around 600m to go and said I was a bit ahead of scheule, and then had to explain to the pacer what I was planning and that I was critising his pacing Ended almost walking the last 20m and having to stop completely 5m before the line and then the autolap went off, I then panicked how long the screen would be there and ended up guessing and crossing the line blind… 22:06 on the watch
I think I should probably volunteer for pacing duties if I attempt to do this again.
Decided to do some tourism and test the leg today before tomorrow so went to Zegerplas parkrun. An overnight migraine didn’t help as I’ve got a headache and a bit meh
Anyway bit my lip and made sure I jogged it, got round in about 24:30.
Nice little parkrun with barely 40 people and the majority today seemed to be a club outing from the UK
Anyway, leg survived so hopefully I’ll make it round tomorrow.
Looks almost like the Med
Family run today, at least until the last km when LO and I pushed on a bit. 26:16 for me.
I did one of @Mungo2 favourites today - Crewe. that’s a lot harder than it should be. Nice surroundings though. Good to have a change.
My local one, Albert Park has event 777 next week so are expecting a lot of tourists as it’s only the ninth event to get that far.
I’m there this weekend but yesterday was far too hard for the “ rollercoaster “
Plus had my car serviced at 9.
It’s a very friendly atmosphere there.
Quite a few triathletes some weeks.
