Bit quicker this week.
Little concerned if gone off a bit fast but didn’t slow too much.
Killed my Alphaflys though. Rest of the sole has plenty of tread but my stupid gait means I go through one spot

Cold & damp ParkRun today. My first sub 20 since TCR (19:50). before TCR I was running around 19mins so shows how much top end I lost.
Due to yesterday’s injury, I just watched today. LO had to run with Mrs FP, she did a 27.06. One half of the duo was happy with that and one was not. ![]()
Back on the tourist trail today, went to Hamsterley forest. Lovely little trail run with a decent bit of climbing for 5k and a couple of little descents on the MTB tracks.
One of my favourite routes and a fairly small event. Fairly steady pace and just over 23 minutes but still fifth.
Just annoying about the ankle, it was on a fairly flat bit where I was on cruise instead of concentrating on the terrain ![]()
Hamsterley you say? You have to watch those little things, quite a nip on them.
Thought I’d dodge Bushy with the 20th birthday bash, no idea what the numbers were though.
1800 ish so more than normal, but not stupidly so.
Wasn’t feeling great during the warm up this morning and that translated in the run
Same opening mile as last week, but then dropped off.
Drama for us today. Parkrun cancelled due to a body being found on the course.
Police there. Unfortunately I think it was a volunteer that found it.
We’ve gone out for breakfast instead
Died a death on km 4 today. Pulled it back together for the last one but cost me 30 or so seconds.
Also saw that Battersea had its first event today. Any London based TTers up for next week? Number were around 250 today, now the cat’s out of the bag that’ll be over 1000 very quickly.
Took it really gently this morning as I’m doing an 8k cross country race at 2:30pm. Pi$$ed with rain during the run but was still enjoyable. Whilst my road shoes dry out I’ll be packing XC or trail shoes for this afternoon.
Council gonna review it at 1000 aren’t they, so it may not be around for long?
I’m not sure that the non-running locals are that happy about Parkrun coming to Battersea Park.
One of the main car parks is being closed until 10:30 to accommodate it. I don’t know how the council square the loss of parking revenue for a free event that presumably isn’t paying to be there ![]()
Pretty easy for a council to square restricting cars for health benefits, have you even heard of Greta? But not convinced it’s actually a good idea for them either, did they also drop some of the Sri Chinmoy races 'cos of parkrun?
Yeah, there’s the Sri Chimnoy races and quite a few charity races that happen there on a Saturday. I assume they’ve all been kicked out or moved to Sunday
.
Those races run with quite large numbers without closing the car park, so I don’t know what Parkrun is doing differently that means that they have to close it
Hung himself apparently ![]()
Slowly moving in the right direction.
Still only running three times a week and nothing else, so of course improvements will be limited.
I haven’t run a step since Monday, so just jogged around with family. 27.10
Needed to find 7 seconds from last week to go under 21:00
Two seconds per mile I thought is doable.
Can push the downhills.
Last week first mile - 6:46
Today - 6:29 ![]()
Felt ok though.
Last week mile 2 - 6:52
Today - 6:46
Still felt reasonable.
Last week mile 3 - 6:44
Today - 6:49
Dying a death
Last week final sprint - 0:41
Today - 0:56
Seeing stars
Finish time - 21:00.2
